Social work certainly has more flexibility in terms of the type of work (clinical, policy, community organizing, etc.), the types of populations, the types of agencies. Nursing is much more limited.
Nursing is certainly more in demand - there is a current nursing shortage and so nurses can often get jobs just about anywhere.

Nursing. Like the other answerer, SW has more choices as what you do, but thats about it. More hour flex in being a nurse, very much in demand, and more lucrative.

Nursing for both. You can work different shifts. Plus all the baby boomers are getting older and that = demand.
