The Oregon Petition in it's present form is a petition organised by Professor Frederick Seitz essentially stating that global warming is natural and beneficial. The scientific community is well aware of it's existence and it's available online for easy downloading and printing (it has to be submitted by post).

There are at least 10 million eligible people in the US alone that can sign it, all a person needs is a BSc, MSc or PhD; it doesn't even need to be in a field related to any of the climate sciences.

Out of 10 million+ people (in the US alone) the sum total of approx 200 have signed it, why would such a minute proportion of educated people choose to sign the petition (0.02%)?

Pleae note, this is the revised Oregon Petition, not the original fraudulent one which was first raised in 1997.

My guess is because the vast majority of the educated population knows that the current warming is neither natural nor beneficial. If they did, they could explain these simple scientific facts:

Most people who are not educated on the subject would probably not sign such a petition, and most people who are knowledgeable about global warming know the claims made in the petition are false.

You could only say that if you produced a simular paper with proponents who wanted something done. I for one am skeptical about the ALARMIST or CATRISTROPHIC global warming and too have an engineering degree. I am not going to sine that list as it probalb means more work for engineers and you never know when you interview with a greenpeace person. As an engineer do you not find it apauling how little the AGW people do with the Thermodynamics? Have you ever seen charts with heat transfer go up like a smile, reather than go up like a frown?

If it's being circulated in Oregon the signers MUST be Registered Voters in Oregon. I've been a signature collector and Campaign Coordinator for years and have never heard of such a thing.

I've never heard of it before, nor do I care. What can the signing of such a petition possibly do, prove or benefit? A petition isn't going to stop the ending of an ice age.

What's the point in signing a petition?

Most of us don't give a hoot about this silly fad. It will go away like the rest of the fads that were going to cause the sky to fall.
