My friend lives in Brisbane with his fiance. The are both from the UK as I am. They want to get married there next year and have asked me to perform the ceremony. Is this possible?

In order to be ordained as a priest you need to enter the seminary and become a priest. This takes several years of schooling.
There are some "churches" that ordain you online but these are not recognized in all states and probably not recognized in other countries.

Since they are getting married in Australia you need to find out what the requirements are. I know some US states you can register for a 1 day certification to perform a marriage ceremony. There may be something similar in other countries.

If not your other option is to find an officiant to perform the ceremony and you can be the co-officiant.

Good luck!

You'd have to go to seminary to be ordained a priest. However, at least in the US, you can be ordained a minister by non-traditional churches via the internet for a small fee. And yes, you can then perform the ceremony legally.

I know that IF a man is married before he bocomes a Catholic priest he is allowed to remain so. The church changed that, maybe 20 or more years ago. Of course if they are single when they become a Priest they are not allowed to marry after that. I would assume that if someone changes from another denomination to Catholicism that the sam rule would apply.

You would need to look at the laws in Australia. The easy way to do it would be for them to let the registrar make it legal and then have you perform the public ceremony.
