Hmm. Actually believe in God, or Pascal's wager, i.e. believe God will be fooled by professing a belief to get into heaven in the manner of one who follows the wager? I've often wondered if any two Christians even have the same beliefs, even if they do believe in God, due to how open to interpretation the Bible is. Look at all the different sects of Christianity...

I would estimate that 9 out of 10 Christians don't have a clue what Pascal's Wager even is. Blaise Pascal was a French Philosopher who was responsible for the " decision theory " to the belief in God. In other words, " It is a 'better bet ' to believe that God exists than not to believe, because the expected value of believing ( assessed as infinite) is always greater than the expected value of not believing." The one and only positive result of this theory is if in the search for the truth of God's existence , it leads you to having faith in Jesus Christ, God's Son. I personally would not want to hinge my salvation or where I spend eternity on a " safe bet ". Rather, I base those two things on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and unquestioning faith in His Word.

I am not sure how many people follow the wager you speak of, but I am not truely sure they are following if this is their reasoning?
