No, never do this. You can do more harm than good.
It is never a good idea to treat something that the dog may never have.
Take a stool sample to your vet and they can tell you if the dog has worms and give you a medicated product (if the dog has them). The over the counter products are not really safe for the dog.
Also the vet can do a check-up and give you peace of mind that you dog is in good health.

Most puppies are born with roundworms and veterinarians routinely worm puppies at around 3 weeks of age. However, older pups and dogs generally don't need routine worming if they don't show any signs or symptoms of worms.
Your veterinarian can test a stool sample for the various types of worms and then prescribe the appropriate medication if needed. Never try to worm your dog yourself with over the counter products. Most are ineffective at best, and dangerous at worst. Always consult a professional before administering any medications to your dog.
You can find out more about the most common worms, symptoms, treatment etc,. at the url below.

first you should notice roundworm, hookworms or the like in their stool, they also will eat a lot but still not gain weight. Worms are debilitating to their system and can manifest itself in a bad coat, whitish gums, distended belly etc.
Best way is to have a fecal done on a stool sample to find any worms then worm accordingly with Nemex or another wormer

Most vets suggest a once a month one dose wormer that will kill multiple types of worms. Heartguard has 2 different wormer ingredients in it-- one for worms in the bloodstream which also prevents heartworms, and the other for worms in the gut. Just worm monthly to keep the dog clear of worms. That is how Heartguard works. And it is what most vets suggest to be done.

NO!
Why give something toxic enough to kill worms (but not enough to kill host) when NOT NECESSARY!!!????
You wouldn't take laxatives every day, but DON'T need to, would you?
