You will probably smile if to answer u is a muslim but I believe that cleaning the Temple as cleaning any other sacred place is very important because positive energies(those ones that help us to follow God spiritually)stay and survive where a place is clean.God is everything but clening is a way to respect our faith and to pray.

In India, dust accumulates daily. so cleaning is required daily.
In US cleaning is done on as required basis. The Moorty's have to cleaned daily, because we use fresh flowers for decoration and puja. The old flowers have to be replaced. Agamashastra requires daily puja of Idols that had pranapratista.

do u like ur house and ur room is dirty smelly n disgusting?....no right ! thats is the same way we treat the god ....always is clean...not only the temple should be clean ur on body must be cleaned......

god has to be in a comfortable place. Imagine the temple all dirty! Better to close the temple.

the place of my worship needs to be clean, so that i learn to keep my mind and soul clean.
if the place is dirty, i will not be able to concentrate on my god. rather i will be concentrating on the smells.

We dirty ourselves every day, that is, hurting others in body and/or mind and/or speech,hence every day we need to be near god ( "temple") and cleanse ourselves!
