Today i noticed my dog, while urinating, peed out blood. She is a eight year old rottweiler, hound mix. She has been spayed. Could this be a possible bladder infection?

in this case yes seek veterinary care immediately..........and for further reference anythime you think you need to ask if a dog has to go to the vet just take them your instincts told you your dog needs to go thats why you asked the question ......so don't second guess yourself

If you notice an odd smell along with the blood, it is most definitely a urinary tract infection and it will require a trip to the vet unless you have a full bottle of antibiotics laying around. Be forewarned that they will probably want to stick a needle in to draw out urine. I went to a friend of mine who was a vet and he said that it wasn't necessary unless the first round of antibiotics didn't work. So, I personally declined this test, and am glad I did. #1 it can be costly, as they have to use ultrasound to find bladder, #2 if something else is going on like a tumor in her bladder that is bleeding you cause a risk by poking in there. My 9 yr old golden got this a few times and it was bright red blood. Antibiotics will work to clear it up. ..but if it comes back again -- I highly recommend getting just an ultrasound done to be sure there is no tumor. Not to scare you, but please check out: http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,1543,0.htm My girl was eventually diagnosed with what they suspect is bladder cancer and is now 11 and doing very well after taking a drug called Feldene with cytotec to protect her stomach. She has really improved and hasn't had any bloody urines since she started it last year. I also give my pooch some cranberry supplement tablets just to keep her healthy down there. Best wishes to you n your girl - Hope all works out fine!

it could be a urinary type infection (bladder) as you suggest and simple antibiotics will work. Monitor it a few days and if it continues and has mucus or different coloration with the urine I would take her to the vet. If she is really ill from it her gums will be white instead of a deep pink color which is healthy.
You can take her temperature first with a rectal thermometer and it should be @ 101.4 or so to be normal.

Yes I'm afraid this pet sounds like a Kidney ,or bladder infection and should be examed by a vet and put on an antibiotic for such.

Yes she has an infection, need to get her to the vet ASAP. Remember, animals don't always cry out even if they are in a lot of pain.

My one year old did this...come to find out he had a pH imbalance in his bladder and it was treated with special dog food and antibiotics. My dog didn't seem in pain either but that's because he is thick skinned...but it still hurts...think if you wear to pee blood it would hurt.
