If someone is teasing me it is for a reason.
Now the next thing to do is to interpret the reason why the other individual is teasing and does he or she know he or she is teasing.
Usually teasing is a test for a reaction.
When someone is teasing me I acknowledge the fact he or she is teasing me with a look, that is enough. The look will let him or her know I really do not approve of teasing and I usually shake my head as if to say "No", "Stop it now."

I think ignoring teasing encourages the bully to continue doing it. Usually it's best to stand up to bullies and say "Stay out of my face forever, Loser" in a loud, strong voice. And when I say stand up, I mean stand up, approach them, make eye contact, and let them know their behavior will not be tolerated. Some people need to be dealt with strongly and quickly, and bullies are in that category. If standing up to them doesn't work, go over their head and report them to the appropriate person. I've found that bullies, when stood up to, turn into whiny little babies who can dish it out but can't take it.

Because people attach significance to it regardless of what you do.
They can also colour your actions in order to make themselves look better.
I prefer simply to wish utter and everlasting destruction on people and then let things be.

Fight fire with fire, but in a kind way. If the lesson doesn't sink in, walk away.
