JERUSALEM (AFP) — Another UN agency joined the chorus of alarm on Friday about the devastating consequences of Israeli restrictions on the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, in the run-up to a Palestinian donors' conference.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that the restrictions Israel tightened after Hamas seized armed control of the territory in June could irrevocably damage the Gaza economy.

It was the third international report released this week about the mounting difficulties endured by the 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza, following findings from the World Bank and the World Health Organisation.

No. Hamas has brought this down upon themselves. They continually call for Israel's destruction and launch rockets to facilitate this end. They hold out two open hands: one to request aid and the other to slap Israel in the face. Hamas cannot have it both ways. They want to lauch endless war with Israel then they must be prepared for the consequences, i.e. sanctions and restrictions. If they are prepared to be peaceful then all of these hardships will be eased.
Let's be honest here: no other country on Earth would continue to fund and support a terrorist entity like Israel has, especially one that continually launches war against it.
It's both ridiculous and sad, and shows the true tactics employed against Israel in this struggle. Hamas is using its own people as pawns, letting them suffer to achieve their goal. All Hamas would have to do to achieve a better life for its people would be to renounce terror. Instead it continues its terrorist activities, forcing its people ever deeper into poverty. The Palestinian leadership cannot expect to continue to perpetrate its violent acts and still get international support. It's one or the other, and it's quite obvious at this stage which one they have chosen.

i don't understand who "paperback" or all of us else is..... yet i'd have figured that folk such as your self would be waiting to work out that the only crime Israel committing right here is self-protection..... which in Israel's case, is oftentimes considered against the regulation. i extremely wish your assessment of Gaza to a concentration camp is sarcasm.... as a results of fact i'm having a not hassle-free time provided that being something on the component of the certainty. That article describes the closure of the Gaza Strip as "hermetic", on an analogous time as they are letting in diesel and different mandatory substances. on an analogous time as Hamas close down their very own potential plant even even with the incontrovertible fact that they are receiving gasoline to potential it. it incredibly is humorous.... I study an interview with a guy from Gaza, and he wrote some thing alongside the traces of "it incredibly is extra low value to purchase weapons in Gaza, than nutrition." it incredibly is frightening to me, as a results of fact fairly of procuring for nutrition for his or her people, hamas purchases weapons... what a international we live in....

A few days ago you were asking if we could all 'take a break' from arguing - then you go and use the most insensitive term possible in relation to Israel. Nice.

Have you ever read the Hamas Charter? Have you read the numerous remarks made that state ONLY the TOTAL destruction of Israel will suffice?

How about the scores of anti semitic and racist comments in the Hamas Charter, where it states 'facts' that have come straight from that vile old forgery, The Protocols?

No?

OK, then later or tomorrow I will post some examples of what Hamas states in its' Charter. And then you can come back and tell me if you still think Israel is wrong to take all the precautions necessary.

Because essentially what you are saying in this post here is that the Gaza economy is more important than the lives of Israei citizens.

For you to even place Israel and the words 'concentration camp' reveals what a spiteful soul you are.

Believe me, if Palestinians were in a 'concentration camp' their numbers would not be increasing, as they are. And there would be no news crews allowed into the area, as there are. You clearly don't know what went on in REAL camps - go and educate yourself. And stop being so spiteful. If anything, it undermines your cause.

P.S. - well said!

First of all Israel does not surround Gaza. It has a border with Egypt. ISRAEL HAS EVERY RIGHT TO SEAL OFF ITS BOARDER WITH GAZA. Why should Israel be responsible for the free-flow of goods, services and people in and out of a territory it is at war with? Call it what it is....Israel is at war with Hamas in Gaza. Hamas has sent almost 40 rockets into civilian areas of Israel in the last five days --that's called war. The fact that Israel's mentally challenged Prime Minister refuses to fight back and protect Israel does not make it any less of a war.

LOOK AT A MAP ! GAZA HAS TWO SIDES ! Egypt is not at war with Hamas, let them become the transportation depot. Why should Israel have to put her citizens at risk? WHO DO YOU THINK SUPPLIED GAZA BEFORE 1967--New Jersey? It was EGYPT !!!

Israel said on Thursday that it has protested to Egypt for opening a border crossing with Gaza for the first time since the Hamas takeover to allow Muslim pilgrims to leave on the annual hajj.

"Israel expressed its dissatisfa ction and its preoccupation to Egypt" via diplomatic channels ... .

Another official said: "Israel is worried about the risk that terrorists may slip through among the pilgrims to go train in Iran."

Since Monday, some 2,000 Palestinians from Gaza have been allowed to cross into Egypt via the Rafah border crossing. That is the only crossing that bypasses Israel and it has been closed since Islamist Hamas seized power in the territory in June.

If Israel can do nothing more than file a diplomatic complaint when Egypt, against Israel’s wishes, permits 2,000 Palestinians to cross the Rafah crossing out of the Gaza Strip, then it obviously does not control the border between the Strip and Egypt. Old Canards Die Hard.

Since Israel does not control the boarder between Gaza and Egypt, there can only be one explanation for the complaints about Israel closing off a desire for dead Israelis. And that...like the refusal of EGYPT to supply Gaza, is unacceptable.

I have to agree with P S. Palestinians relocate to Canada, the US, wherever, and eventually become citizens. However a Palestinian who relocates to Kuwait to Saudi Arabia is treated even worse than the way Israelis treat Palestinian workers. What's wrong with this picture?

I do feel for the people in Gaza, that's why I hope my own goverment helps them come to my country and resettle. The fact is, the situation in Gaza is never going to get better. I just wished the Arab countries cared enough to do something constructive about the situation. It takes more than one state to make a person stateless.

israel left gaza like 2 years ago. get with it, dude.
let's look at what's happened since.

daily rocket fire into southern israeli towns.
working greenhouses and other businesses closed down.
fatah-hamas civil war with both sides killing and torturing each other.
a return of sharia law, including honor killings of young girls.

all done by the arabs. israel has nothing to do with gaza anymore. you'll really have to find another scapegoat.

Most of the ills brought upon Gaza come from Hamas.
Yes Israel has something to do with the devastating conditions in Gaza but Israel has the right to protect it's people also.
