he doesn't know how to dance and i want him to learn so we can dance together at our wedding. I have tried convincing him, but he wont do it. I have spoken to him about how important this is to me, but he seems to think that dancing in one spot is alright for our first dance. I think he is embarrassed to go to a class. Any suggestions.

The only thing you can do is emphasize how important it is to you and hope that he will come around to your side on it. My hubby was the one that suggested lessons since he didn't know what he was doing and didn't want to make a moron out of himself. LOL Seriously though, just reassure him that you're going to be there too so it's not like you're throwing him to the Arthur Murray wolves. Good luck!

Find a really nice teacher, and a fun class, first. Learning to do something can be intimidating. No one wants to look bad. Make sure that the people who are teaching have a good attitude. My friend goes to people's homes and teaches the ones who are really shy. Remember that both of you will be in the spotlight, and he deserves to feel comfortable in it. If you want to try a suggestion, the bride and groom give each other a gift to commemorate the wedding - like a watch for the groom, etc. Wouldn't if be great if you asked for that as a gift, to mention to your grandkids someday - that he gave you two the chance to shine on your wedding day as your bride's gift from the groom? Also, you two will be going to lots of dancing opportunities throughout your marriage - what a great feeling to know that he would feel as happy to dance with you as you are to share the dreamed-of first dance with him - now and forever.

You tell him that if he donot want to dance, than no problem at least he can see you dancing. When he goes there 3 to 4 times and see you dancing, he knows something about dancing. That you can make him practise while you both are together. Afterwards when he gets the idea, that dancing is not at all difficult for him but a very good exercise to make oneself fit and a better way of entertainment, he will prefer dancing with you.

Pleanty of men don't want to go classes. You could try asking his buddies to convince him or hire a private dance instructor. Maybe one of your or his friends and their partner can join the class too so that he won't be so embarrassed.

This is probaby not the first time he has refused to do some simple, nice thing for you just because it will make you happy.

And it sure isn't going to be the last time. Get used to it. If you are going to be married to him for the rest of your life, he will disappoint you in many little ways.

Make him feel guilty.Tell him he needs to at least go to the class and see what it's about.Let him know that u two are getting married and marriage means compromiseing. If he can't even compromise now before u get married then what is it going to be like after marriage. Do alittle crying and let him know that u would do this for him. See how that works. Good luck and congrats on your marriage.

Try to show him how much it means to you to 'show off' your new skills at your wedding, if this doesn't work remind him if he won't dance with you at the lessons, someone else will!!!! Jealousy is a powerful tool! x

Propose him to learn something for him in exchange. Let's say he always dreamed of mechanics classes. Go with him if he goes with you to dance classes.
Or tell him you're gonna go with that hunky friend of yours;)

As hard as it is to accept, you can't make him do anything he doesn't want to do. After your dance with him, dance with whoever you want to and then people will know it was him that couldn't dance and not you.
