Talking to my brief about my court case for 2nd ABH. He said that tagging might be an option instead of prison or as part of the sentence. Does this happen much now because the prisons are full. Anybody know what's involved? Would I still be able to keep my job if I get this?

I don't agree with prison where it's not necessary i.e. not paying your council tax or TV licence, but I think if this is your second ABH charge you need to go to prison to learn that violence is not the be all and end all. You need to take responsibility for your own life and stop endangering the lives of others. Have you taken an anger management course? If not you need to. You are obviously articulate so why use your hands when you could use your mouth? Personally I hope they do give you a jail sentence it may make you realise that life is worth more than physically hurting someone. Always remember there is someone stronger and nastier than you - the chances are you will meet that person in prison, and whilst I wish you no harm, I hope you have a cold, hard lesson and learn to be a more valued member of society.

You'll be able to keep your job as long as the hours dont run over your curfew. They'll fit the tag and link it to your phone line, if you go out after curfew or goto an area your not allowed then it will be activated and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. They are using it more often now because of prison overcrowding. But they will discuss things such as your job when arranging this, so they'll take into account the hours you work.
Take this chance to sort yourself out, with a baby on the way, you dont want to get sent down. Stay out of trouble.

Tagging is an electronic curfew. If you're not within range of the tagging machine that they install in your home within certain hours then you're in violation and can be taken back to prison or imprisoned instead of being tagged. You should be able to go to work as long as it's regular hours and not shift work.

i think tagging the less serious criminals is a good idea like Petty robbery, self defence assaults or miner assaults (no medical help needed assaults) and things like that but they should also bring back hanging for the more serious criminals (murders and sex offenders) that way there's more room for all the others and the prisons will be cheaper to run and a safer world to live in. my brother got put on tag when his nutter ex girlfriend got him done for assault then later admitted he didn't touch her she just wanted to get back at him for dumping her if he'd of gone to jail then his life would of been ruined

Waste of time - tagging. It allows the criminal the freedom he was meant to lose in the first instance. Most often, there is break-down in electronic communication between the monitoring agency and the criminal, which in itself affords the person being tagged a window of opportunity, in which he can go forward to commit another crime undetected [whilst still wearing the nonsense of a tag].

Don't bank on it. Your brief may be right, but there is now a growing public demand for violent offenders such as yourself to be banged up and for non-violent people to be allowed out on parole and be tagged and have to report to the fuzz daily etc.

ELECTRONICS HAS IT'S PLACE ON MINOR OFFENSES OF NON HARM OR INJURY CASES.

WHAT IS DONE IS AN ELECTRONIC ANKLE BRACELET IS PLACE ON YOU AND LOCKED DOWN. THIS DEVICE SEND A MONITORING TO WHERE YOU ARE. IT USE TO BE USED FOR HOUSE ARREST AND NOW A DAYS WITH THE GLOBAL POSITIONING (GPS) SOME CAN MONITOR AND LOCATE YOUR WHERE ABOUTS AS YOU GO ABOUT LIFE.
ALTERNATIVE TO PRISON YES, DEPENDANT UPON PERSON WEARING THE DEVICE TO BE FREE AND STAY OUT OF TROUBLE.

Keep your job!? Whats wrong with going to prison & doing without & paying your debt to society.... the laws in this country play into the hands of the likes of you who do what they like & expect to get away with it..... If the prisons are full then we need more, thats the only way!
