Actually the "beliefs written by a science fiction writer" are fiction. But not by him. The people who quote those say that its all "secret info known only to those at the top". Scinetolgists say its not their beliefs.

Thats kindof like telling the christians over and over that they believe that Jesus was married but its secret info only known to the pope. Then making fun of it.

Cults are all about mind control. Even when you corner them on serious questions about thier beliefs they somehow still avoid the answer. The more parctice the better they get. They are trained to block out any information from anyone on the outside. It really takes an act of God to turn them to the truth.

All has merit in part
to show me the whole.

It takes a disciplined mind, and a heart well learned, to glean from all-that-is and see the pearls.

To reject the whole, because part is misunderstood or denied is an error.
Likewise to embrace the whole of something, because part holds true to you is error.
