yes she is a spoiled rotton brat thats half of the problem.......no i haven't missed the window of oppertunity i had the vag smear this morning and the cells are cornified so shes flamin hot and no i wouldn't consider myself a back yard breeder either because i have taken the time to research the genetics on both my dog and the stud dog. I have taken the time to make sure brucellosis tests were negative I have waited for 3 yrs for this breeding it will be her first. I am willing to put the expense out fo artificial insemination i am willing to pay in excess of $600 for that possibilty that she may need a c -section I resent your accusations and wish you would of learned to read where it says please only experiensed breeders respond!

the male is 5 yrs old and is a proven sire and we just thought it would be easier for him to come here because he is very familiar with my home whereas she was a total spass at the stud owners home

It sounds like you may have missed your window of opportunity and may have to wait until the next heat cycle.
Generally most breeds have about a five day window when everything is just right, the female is flagging and the male well he knows what to do lol.
You may have to hold the girl for the male, some girls want to be chased some males want to chase. So many ways not enough pages to tell you.
Let them be under supervision for another day and if nothing happens then you have missed. Most males are smart and know when the time is right.
Short of doing vaginal smears there really is no way of knowing other than the female will stand and flag and the vulva is very swollen and soft.
Good luck hope you don't have to wait till the next heat cycle.
Most females stand from aproximately the 9th to 15th day of heat cycles...........that's an average number only a guide line

So what you are saying your female has never been bred before is this correct??
has the male ever been used before?? The general rule when breeding you never doit with two dogs that have neither been used. I don't know how old he is he may not know what to do.
You can try ai but your time is running out and this should be done by a vet.
Or you may just have to wait until the next heat. And have the male come to the house for atleast 3 days before you plan to breed he may be to nervous in the new souroundings.
good Luck

Sometimes dogs must be together about a week before they get use to one another. The female usually won't let the male mount her til 10 days in her season.Don't worry you still have about 2 1/2 wks. and the male will probably breed her within this time,as the female will stay in season from start to end about 3 to 3 1/2 wks. and can conceive.

Why don't you ask your breeding mentor? He/she will be able to tell you exactly what you did wrong.
However, if you don't have a mentor, and you are just an irresponsible backyard breeder, then you need to get your dog spayed. Don't bring more unwanted puppies into this world.

There is a REASON people leave their b*tches with the stud owner... it works!
She'd have adjusted given time without you there (assuming she isn't a spoiled rotten brat).

Well you probably left them alone for too long and I think that when a female Chihuahua or any dog is pregnant your not supposed to leave them together. Well I think it is too late now, so I say you would separate them and let the mother rest and make sure she has fresh food and water avaliable at all times and I would go to a vet to be extra sure about what to do, well I Hope This Helps!
