I ask this because a lot of answers seem to infer that women are only interested in men for their money, or whatever else they can get out of them. Can that really be true ?

It depends on the woman. Always look at it this way:
If you see some young hot looking woman with a 60 year old fat balding man, do you think she would be with him if he worked in a factory? No. He is likely a doctor or lawyer or business owner. That is a gold digger. They can be either way. Most times it is an older man with a younger woman. Sometimes they don't get what they think they will.

Some do, sure. Feel free to slap the label on deserving individuals.
Most do not. You slap that label on me, for instance, and you get slapped back.
Most of the women I know are contributing partners to the relationship. Some contribute money from their own jobs. Others contribute time and effort. (Frankly, when I stopped working to raise our kids, the work was a *lot* harder and the hours were terrible.) Most contribute more than half in ways that many men to not seem to value or even notice, like doing far more than half the parenting, doing whatever's necessary to stay on top of family occasions (his family as much as hers), doing more housework and better, doing more of the cooking and shopping, covering all birthdays, holidays, etc. including for his family, and later, caring for his aging parent.
True golddiggers never, ever change the diaper of an incontinent dementia patient because it's their husband's mom or dad.

There probably as many women gold diggers as there are men willing to part with their money to women for the main pleasure in life.

No one statement applies to all women any more than one could apply to all men. There are a lot of genuine people in the world of either gender, but there are a lot of *rseholes as well.

no its not true , just like its not true that blondes are stupid lol . Im very independant and find it really strange and a bit uncomfortable when my new boyfriend even pays for drinks etc .
