I have been unemployed since January. I have applied for 300 jobs, attended over 20 interviews and registered with many agencies for a variety of jobs with no success. I haven't managed to get an interview for nearly 2 months, and I am now extremely worried about my life prospects. Is there any hope for me?

I have a Masters degree. A few years administrative and customer related work experience (also worked at a University for over a year). Also took the ECDL and ECDL Advanced qualifications (I tooked them to increase my employability while I was working, but looks like they are of little help to me).

There is always hope. Maybe you aren't qualified for the jobs you are applying at and need to step down a notch. You might not get the job of your dreams but you need money. If you are qualified for these jobs you might want to re-consider the way you are presenting yourself at these interviews. That seems like an awful lot of interviewing with no success. Something isn't right here.

What is it that you do, and what kind of jobs are you applying for?

Have you considered setting your sights a little lower and doing, say, admin or blue collar work so you can get back into the work habit?

And what is your work experience? If you had only had a year or two work experience before you lost your job, you would be less attractive than a more experienced candidate. You will also need to brush up on your interview skills. It might be worth looking to an expert to give you some interview tips.

Whatever you do, remain confident and upbeat. Don't attend your next interview seeming like a desparate no-hoper. You know your talents and abilities better than anyone else - make sure you let your interviewer know.

There is definitely hope. People do find jobs after being off a long time. Be sure that you are qualified for the jobs you are applying for, and see if you can broaden your search some as to type of job.

The problem might just be that there are a lot of other people out of work with similar qualifications, so competition for available jobs is heavy.

Good luck.

Why do people ask these questions and then don't give enough information for anyone to even GUESS an answer.

If you are as cryptic when you apply for a job as your posting would suggest, I can see why nobody wants to hire you.
