I have always been atheist, and have practiced Buddhism for over 30 years. I don't experience people as being religious or atheist. There is no "us and them".

It's spelled what! and I think that it is a very peaceful and spiritual religion. If I was to choose to follow a religion it probably would be Buddhism but I'm not one to follow with the crowed. I rather like not labeling myself.

Some people have a genetic propensity towards belief or spirituality, for those people a religion like Buddhism, in moderation, is probably not bad, but definitely not needed.
As long as religion is not forced in to a nation's laws (i.e. disallowing gay marriage because think it is immoral or requiring all women to cover their whole body) and it does not encourage violence or teaching myths as science, I do not have a problem with it.

i think of what you desire to appreciate is why people who so gleefully positioned Christians and Muslims down do not behave with Buddhists interior an analogous way. that's as a results of variation interior the natures of those religions and their histories . Buddhism in contrast to all different 2 does not condemn the remainder of the international to spending eternity in hell . It additionally does not have a historical past of prosecuting different faiths. It promises each guy or woman the thank you to decrease the suffering ,i'm optimistic, very virtually all of us has to stand faster or later of time of their lives. It does not insist that folk persist with its direction nor does it condemn people who do not . What it does is supply solace and need to people and leads them in direction of a gentler and less complicated existence . what's faulty with that ? You rightly component out that temples want not develop into too showy and that the money spent on them could be extra effective used in construction hospitals, faculties etc. How is Buddhism responsible for all this ? i'm optimistic the Buddha himself would have agreed with you . this could be a guy or woman who gave his kingdom and went in seek of actuality. the priority right here , as with maximum different religions , is that the custodians of the religion have forgotten their roots. they are transforming into ensnared by using an analogous needs that their faith so explicitly warns against. Why does faith could be qualified by using " rational concept" . perception isn't pushed by using rationality , it extremely is oftentimes arrived at by adventure . some people's existence are replaced for the extra effective as a results of fact of their perception in God. Their memories does not have been attainable without their faith and that they know it . No quantity of rational clarification can weaken their perception . what's so terrible approximately that ? Rationalists want do purely one element to make people have self assurance that rational concept is the genuine deal . they could be waiting to describe certainty with all its intricacies to the folk and tell them the way it pertains to their lives . except they'd try this folk will proceed to have self assurance in God/faith. The Dhammapada says "Hatred can in no way triumph over hatred , Neither large wars nor revenge , it extremely is in simple terms love , organic and stylish , that would triumph over hatred " . Why do you communicate such sayings out of date ?

It varies from person to person. I happen to think Buddhism is a great religion, no force, nothing that Christians do at any rate...I also like paganism, very in touch with nature...^_^

I don't think that this question has a general answer, particularly since Buddhists are considered atheists as well. I can only speak for myself. I think buddhism is nonsense, but at least buddhists seem to be peaceful and somewhat wise people. I don't favour any particular religion, well, Pastafarianism has most of my sympathies, but all religion is organized superstition.

Atheists are still atheists. But I like most of the Daoist philosophies.

I think buddhists are largely atheist.
But I think it's one of the less offensive religions, by no means perfect though, I think they let themselves get pushed around TOO much.
