I would like Christians to re-read the old Testament and find where the god of the Jews is just. Throughout the texts in the old Testament, the god is jealous, plays favoritism and has a basic disregard for the free will he seems to convey on people at the beginning (i.e. damns all those who exercise free will.)
The God, as described by Jehoushua, is a Loving God. Justice will always flow from Love.

His Word will not change. God can be taken at His Word. His Word is Justice, because He is the Judge of all mankind.
God is the Lawgiver and His way is truth and life to all who accept it.

How is it fair that both atheists and christians are many times equally affected in disasters?

Let's see, He don't mess with our free will, He sent us His begotten Son to pay for our sins and show us the way to come back to Him, He is prone to forgive us if we repent and leave aside our life of wrongdoing, and He gives everyone exactly what he or she deserves good or bad, according to what they did in earth. So yes He shows His justice every single day.
