I think that Christians need a better sense of humour than atheists, because look at the questions here. It seems as though most of the atheists and agnostics and pagans have a well developed sense of humour and can take a lot of grief. I really feel for the Christians, and I know that it must take a lot of inner strength when their beliefs are called moronic, idiotic, improbable, impossible, stupid, cultish, fragmented, horrific, ludicrous, retarded, blind, guilt-laden, divisive, subversive, imbecilic, schizophrenic, out dated, counter-intuitive, isolating, controlling, etc. etc.
So, do you think we should pat these Christians on the back, and say, thankx for putting up with us humourous people, and how can we help you develop a better sense of humour than those darned atheists? Because after all, those atheists say the darnedest things.

Well, as an atheist, I think we should call a spade a spade. I don't say anything specifically to be "demeaning," although I'm sure a lot of the Christians on this board think that I do. I'd rather have people examine their beliefs than laugh about them, because laughing is just a way to dismiss criticism, and I think the criticisms are valid.

If a Christian on this board tries to argue that the earth is 6,000 years old, for example - and I know that not ALL Christians believe this, but a surprising number of them do - I think the "appropriate" critical response will probably smack of ridicule, for the simple reason that it's ridiculous to believe such things. I don't see why we should coddle or pretend to "respect" ignorance. If they laugh it off, good for them; but that's not really my goal...lol.

I guess this is one of those "darndest things." ;P

As a Buddhist, I would agree and add Buddhists to the forefront. Find me a monk that is not good spirited and jolly.

The most recognized (arguably) Buddhist statue involves a monk with a large belly and big smile.

Buddhists are more closely aligned with Agnostics or Atheists, to a degree (but minus the "Belief' system)

8-track, EVERYONE here needs to develop a thicker skin and learn to understand that some folks have an odd sense of humor. Also accept the fact that SOME folks are going to hate you, no matter HOW nice you are to them. I don't hink that it's any ONE specific groupf of folks that appear to have NO sense of humor. Rather, Christians make up the majority in here, therefore it only stands to reason that they will have the MOST. I think if we examined the percentages of each group, we would find that their percentage is no higher than any other group's.

Great point; I have to say, though, the ones with a good sense of humour can really roll with the punches, lol. My good friends on here are, by and large, Christians that have a wicked sense of humour.

The people at my church are VERY funny. I am considered funny by most. People and patients at work are always saying I'm funny.
The thing is I don't find much funny about Jesus. Sometimes yes but not anything offensive.
It's just perspective bro.

oovy you shouldn't generalize. I have an applied science degree, I am very tolerant since I was not raised a born again believer, and I can be very funny.

Yes, they most certainly do! Without a sense of humor, life will be such a downer---trying to constantly defend a religion they know cannot be true. Why would anyone think that G-d would come to earth as a human being? I would hate to constantly defend it----that is why I went to another religion.

I know most of my answers on YA are not what would get alot of chosen answers. But, I do tell it as I see it. And, I do have my own tongue in cheek sense of humor.

You will see very few christians with a sense of humor. For Humor goes along with a sense of tolerance of others and the ability to see irony. Very few unfortunately have this inside themselves.

Religion has nothing to do with a person's sense of humour.

Didn't you know? Belief leads to degeneration of areas of the brain that control humour, logic, reason; and increases areas controlling imagination and smugness.

Yes they do very much, that's why i tell jokes in the joke section to ease them up a little so they won't report people so much for abuse and thumbs down.
