I recently had a back injury. I went to the doctor and was told I have muscle spasms in the middle of my back near my spine. Does anyone have any remedies they have found that work to help relieve the pain? How long did you have the muscle spasm before it healed? I was prescribed some pretty strong pain killers and find that these are difficult to take during the day because they tend to make me very groggy. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Physical therapy was recommended, I just don't currently have the time to do this. She did however, give me some core strengthening things to do at home.

I had 2 rods put into my back after a car accident, 10 years ago. After 3 months in the hospital I went home with a script for 100mg Tylenol.

Spasms are the muscles trying to hold things steady and they get tired. The solution is muscle tone.

You need to start light. I was bench pressing a broom stick. now I bench press 245lbs.
I'm surprised your doctor would not have recommended some physical therapy, you need to check with him before you start anything physical.

I have had muscle spasms in my back and they are very painful. I also got the strong pain medication and it made me tired. I called my doctor and ask for a different medication and he sent out SOMA which is great for muscle spasms. I hope that this ends for you soon because I know how much pain you are in.

Try a TENs machine, they unlocked my lower back muscle spasm in Hospital Physiotherapy Department with one, after four very long painful months!

If you are open to alternative treatments you might want to ask help from a chiropractor. More info about chiropractic below:
