It might seem that the humanitarian thing to do is to let any and all oppressed peoples of the world come to America and allow our social services to give them a solid start at being self sufficient and contributing to our society. Unfortunately, this can only happen in an ideal world. It is simply unrealistic to think that our country can continue to absorb undocumented people in such huge numbers and maintain a viable economy for those who work and try and make a living for themselves and their families while supporting millions of immigrants - not to mention the associated costs of incarceration, education, stolen SS numbers and identities, unlicensed and uninsured drivers, "free" health care and so on.
Millions of immigrants have entered this country legally and assimilated into our society as Americans and if employment is all the illegals seek, the United States provides work visas and other legal means to enter. The United States will not survive if it is fragmented into numerous cultures and languages - no country will remain united under these circumstances and no society can remain intact when a large number of "citizens" are not documented.
We must get a handle on this problem - you can't think it is OK to just illegally enter a country, steal someones identity, fraudulently acquire the social services and presume that there will be no consequences.

It is expensive, and it is abused hard.

Finally.. a full article that examines this by someone who really likes the Mexican People.

How big is the anchor baby phenomenon? It has been estimated that about 165,000 anchor babies are born (and automatically granted citizenship) each year. It might actually be higher. The exact figure is uncertain because all hospitals and physicians receiving federal funds are forbidden from inquiring as their patients' legal status. In other words, the U.S. taxpayer is financing medical care for illegal aliens, and those providing such care can't even ask if patients are legal or not! The state of California has a particularly liberal program to reward illegal aliens which includes free pre-natal care and delivery, and it's no surprise that 60% of babies born in LA community hospitals are born to illegals. In 1994, a majority of California who went to the polls voted to end such nonsense. But the will of the people was placed under a judge's restraining order until a later state government, at the behest of the president of Mexico struck it down. So the gravy train rolls on!
Of course the birth of an anchor baby is only the beginning. As the child grows he or she is entitled to a multitude of other taxpayer-funded programs. Since most anchor babies are classified as "minorities", they can expect to enjoy legal preference over "non-Hispanic white males" under today's "civil rights" regime. Upon reaching adulthood, the citizen anchor baby is eligible to import relatives from the home country through America's nepotistic chain migration system , in which the principal qualification for a prespective legal immigrant is having relatives already in the U.S. When you look at the vast cornucopia of benefits, you have to conclude that the U.S.A. offers powerful incentives for illegal immigration. For those who disobey U.S. law and their children, America is certainly the land of opportunity!

I have the same view of their parents as I do when a woman secretly gets pregnant and trys to force a man to marry her, or uses the child as a means for financial support. Or a woman who crys rape when it didn't happen to get money or sympathy. You never use a child as a means to get something you want. I don't have anything against the child.....I have a problem with the parents.
We have enough trouble with fathers or mothers not taking personal responsibility and real issues of injustice to have it be-littled by people who abuse the system and expect to ride the coat-tails of the true victims to selfishly benefit from it on purpose.

The fact that their parents are illegal and they never pay for anything. They are not citizens in my eyes and in most American's eyes unless their parents are legal. It's just more of a welfare drain and closing of more hospitals due to lack of payment. If you can't provide for yourselves, why should we have to! These illegals and their anchor babies are destroying our nation! But it is not the fault of the child just the illegal parents trying to make a buck off of them. Disgusting!

We don't have nothing against border babies or any other person, we just don't appreciate or tolerate people coming into our country and then demanding rights or think that they could do what ever they want in our country. And we don't like or appreciate illegals just having babies just to used them as pawns in order to get benefits from our government. Do you ??

They should be allowed to live in harmony in Mexico where they and their parents are legal citizens. It's ridiculous to demand more for them.

In my opinion you are having your babies here so you can stay and the babies will be supported by our government. More babies, more aid. You are supposed to have babies because you love children, not for a free Illegal ride.

I have nothing against children or babies. I have $70 billion rea$on$ to be against illegal alien criminals.
And unfortunately by having birthright citizenship, that is an encouragement for criminal activity to occur. SO while I have nothing against children, if they are born here to illegal alien criminals I don't believe they should be citizens of the US. Alas, the current law says they are.
I for one am for appealing the 14th amendment to the US Constitution.

Nothing... Meritage homes took 2 years to build my 700,000 dollar home. They had Orientals Whites and others building them but people started complaining, and Meritage realized that this people were slow, unreliable and expensive. The unavoidable came and my house was finally taking shape. Illegal or legal "I don't care my house finally stated coming up... " So to all the ones that hate people from across the border think twice before you speak. You might not be able to enjoy nice houses. malls, roads, restaurants, nice buildings nice service, good food, and clean places etc... "Also a nice wall across the border built by illegals, to stop illegals from comming here." "Ironic Ha!" Do u all really think the government cannot get rid of them... is just they are smarter than you all. They know the facts; because, who the hell is going to build and do all this nice things you all enjoy. Your Children!!!
Or great smart Indians that cannot even clean their own country... Ignorant people like you should travel around the world to realize you live in the cleanest, nicest country in the world. Well, I will give Canada some credit that country is also nice, but the border people are also there.
