and what the New Testament contains? Our Lord commanded his Apostles to teach all things whatsoever He had commanded; (Matt. 28-20); His Church must necessarily teach everything; (John 14-26); however, the Protestant Bible itself teaches that the Bible does not contain all of Our Lord's doctrines:
John 20-30: And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book, etc.
John 21-25: And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
How would it have been possible for second century Christians to practice Our Lord's religion, if private interpretation of an unavailable and only partial account of Christ's teaching were indispensable?

This is a great question. It reveals two basic facts. 1) The need for additional scripture. 2) The need for prophets.
All through the bible we read about prophets who talked to God face to face as Moses did. For centuries, this is how he revealed his will to his children. We read in Amos 3:5, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
There is a real need for a living prophet who speaks to God and provides Gods children (us) with the answers. But then how do we avoid the "wolves in sheeps clothing" the bible describes? Through prayer. We can ask God if this person claiming to be a prophet is really His prophet. He will answer us with the comforter who Jesus said He would send, the Holy Ghost.
So my friend, you should ask God. You will get an answer.

Most of what Jesus preached about is actually missing from the new testament.
Consider Jesus preached to keep the Law of the jews, Dose the church, or the new testament. Jesus preached communism. Does the church or the new testament. Jesus preached ALL life is sacred, Does the church or the new testament.
As to John. Actual research has proven that about half the book is the origional work of John, Jesus kid brother. It was written by John for his grandson Pollycarp, and is well documented in origional form.
This did not agree with the other books spread around by Paul and Prisilla, which the Romans prefered.
Many of the prodistant churches came about because they stumbled across old documents that differed from the Roman church stance.
This is why the Roman Church has gone to extremes in an attempt to destroy all the origional writings of Jesus and the apostels.
All jewish boys could read and write in hebrew from the age of about 12, so why have we no hebrew writings..
The vatican has 32 miles of shelving of religous papers we the public and academics are not allowed to read..!!

God expects us to teach the same things today that were taught by His Apostles. There is no discrepancy in His word. The reason all accounts of His doctrine and works are not included in the Bible is because it is not intended for us to know. That should be obvious, or else He would have told us all. To believe means to have faith in. That is what it is all about, simply believing. He knows all and we don't need to. Our human minds cannot grasp all of the wisdom God has. When our life here is over and we meet Him face to face, then all of our answers will be given and not until then. A question for you now. Have you looked up the word "indispensable? Your usage of this word contradicts what you attempt to say.

The Jews always have had a tradition of oral history. And I am sure this was held over to the Christian sect. I am sure that Paul has helped with much of this in his writtings. Origen , Polycarp and others such as Clement of Rome has passed on some as well. So I believe that the bulk of it is known and we are the wiser for it.

JIm friend,
Have you read the works of Eucebius?
He was an early church "father" and historian. His teachings go against the RCC many many times.
He talks about Jesus's brothers and sisters he talks about how Mary died and much more.
You have been taught traditions of men that go against bible and God's word. Think about this without being mad. Talk to God yourself and ask him to show you the truth. Will you listen? I did.

i can see that you have conveniently avoided the last part where it says..........but these things were written so that you may have eternal life.
If you cant accept the basic (that we have now) how does it help if we had another 10 books???
And Martin Luther opposed certain books because it didnt get along with his SOLA FIDE (faith alone). Books like James give equal importance to works too.

I don't know. I think God by his holy spirit teaches people what they need to know and makes what they need to know available to them. :) Does that help? ITs like asking "why do people in china get limited to rice and fish? I don't know but they prosper just the same.
