My pug has a little bump not on his chest but on his tummy, I think it's his belly button that sticks out - what is this called?

It depends where it is.

If it's in the middle of the tummy, it's likely to be the belly button. My pug just gave birth to 6 puppies, and I cut 3 of the umbilical cords myself. That's where their belly button is.

If you are talking towards the rear of the pug, like close to one of their nipples, then it's likely to be a harmless growth. My pug has one of those and the vet says it's normal. But if you are concerned, you can take your dog to the vet to have checked out.

Soundsl like a herniated belly button - nothing to be concerned about. If you have planning on having him fixed, the vet can fix it while they are under. I think it runs $50-$100 bucks on a male, they usually can fix it during spaying at little or no cost since females have a different incision site.

i don't think it's his belly button if it is sticking out. Sounds more like a hernia from the mother dog biting or chewing the umbilical cord to short

Umbilical hernia. They are not dangerous unless they become hard, red, and warm to the touch and will not push in easily.

It is a hernia. My Shihtzu has one and I will have it remocved when I take him in for neutering if the vet suggests it.
