I have bought my son a Playstation 3 for christmas which he does not know he's getting as I told him we could not afford it. He has asked for a Dvd player instead? but does the Playstation 3 play Dvd's?

Yes. the Playstation 3 does play DVD's and if you buy the blue-ray DVD's for the PS3 it's better graphics..

The ps3 reads Dvd's as long as they are not pirated.
Trust me a ps3 is way better than a Dvd player, you did the right thing in my opinion.
Also if he has a Hd tv, you could buy blue ray dvds which will look so much than a normal Dvd disc, at least thats what I heard, I am still waiting to buy my own Hd tv.
The ps3 is the new Dvd player today...........it ROCKS!!

Sony's PlayStation 3 consoles have a built-in Blu-ray Disc player, which also plays DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-ROM, CD-RW... So, that's a state-of-the-art DVD player you've got him. (It's also the most powerful games console available!)

Yes it does i just got mines last night for my birthday. yes u made a good choice with the ps3 also u can play blu-ray and the blu-ray is beautiful.

Absolutely....along with everything else. It is awesome! Hopefully I will be able to get my son one for his birthday since I have already finished their Christmas wishes.
