My g/f of several weeks just decided two days after we had sex that she just wants to be friends until she get things straightened out in her head. She says that sex was great but I think she just wanted a fling and I think I got a little too close to her. She says its because of her issues with her drug dealing father and her sexually abusive grandfather when she was younger. Her sister said over email that she isn't over her old b/f and that she just needs more time and for me not to take it personally. I'll give her time, how long until then? A couple of days ago she called and said she cares for me and she is going to therapy starting January. Ok... I REALLY like her, but after having sex with her, how am I to act around her? She knows I want something long term. Any advice other than moving on?

Did you mention "her drug dealing father"? I'd suggest you move far away from her, maybe a new town, perhaps a new state and find a new girlfriend.

Don't move on. Give her presents and presence - in other words be around as much as you can, supportive and friendly. talk about everything you two are interested in, but leave sex out of it for now. Eventually, if she finally gets it that you are going to stick around, and she can drop the trust issues she has, you may get back together, and it will be worth the wait.

Let her straight her mind out. How long...? Two weeks or more, three weeks. Girls sometimes have like that - they become confused after having sex, especially if they have a past like your girlfriend.
My advice: still let her feel that you care about her and think about her. If she needs you too, she will for sure come back quickly.
Good luck :)

You'll just have to wait this one out. Sounds like she's got more baggage than an airplane & if you really want to be in a relationship w/her, you're just going to have to bide your time. Until then, just be her "best friend" and try to get her closer to you using it. Good luck....

it sounds like you just have to stick around and wait for her but you never know what might happen in the end so be prepared if she realizes she doesnt feel the same way for you

If you want to stick with her, then... stick with her, and act the way you normally do.
