The answer used to be, "Not true."

I understand now you can get in with a GED. Criminal records are examined and handled on a case by case basis.

Yes you can, but how hard it is depends on what branch. The easiest branch is the Army. The Navy will take a ged, with a clean criminal record. The marines do so sometimes, but usually require 15 college credits. It is nearly impossible with the Air Force unless you have college credits. For the navy 15+ college credits will make it much easier. You are scrutinized more intensly and require good references. Most importantly your criminal record must be very clean and you will have to give a reason why you quit school. Also your Juvenile record is taken into account! If you are in high school you can enlist into the delayed entry program, but cannot ship until after graduation and you must receive a diploma. I cannot speak for the other branches on regards to fenonies. The requirements for the Navy are 2 juvenile, or 1 juvenile or 1 adult, or 1 adult. Though they have to be waived and the process is much longer and they cannot be major felonies. If you have a GED it will make it nearly impossible if you have a felony unless you have a lot of college credits.

You need a high school diploma or GED. Felons can rarely join. There are cases where if th felony is juvinile, a long time ago and not a violent one (tax evasion, conspiracy, forgery etc) then they can get a waiver to join.

*You do have to have at least GED. minimum.
If you are a felon,no you cannot join the Military,
UNLESS....you can prove that you deserve a waiver. Under some circumstances that is possible
and Juvenile records do not apply.
Judges have from time to time, waivered charges and sentencing if you agree to volunteer for military service and are excepted.

You don't have to have a high school diploma, but you must at least have a GED. They don't take felons, either. Of course, that might change if they ever get desperate enough for recruits.

False.....You have to have a GED or a High School Diploma to join the military. They can start recruting before you are out of high school, but cant actually enlist until graduation.

My husband is a recruiter and you CAN have 1 juvenile felony and/or I adult felony. You just need a waiver. ALSO you can join with a GED, but they only take HP3's (non high school graduates) certain times of the year.

no. at bare minimum, you must have a GED, but even then only a small number of people with GEDs can join, they must score higher on the ASVAB (50 vice 35) and the jobs choices are limited.

most felons are PDQd and may never serve.
