When you contribute to making the world a better place, you also make yourself a stronger person spiritually. This will help you in future lives dealing with a similar type of reality. Doing good will make you feel better about yourself, and will encourage others to do the same, so that this world can become the healthy and moral world it should be. I do care about others, and the condition of the world a lot. It could be so much better, if our technology was directed in a more moral way.

As I see it there are three options
--- Do something good
--- Do something bad
--- Do nothing
It's hard to (literally) do nothing --- and I just haven't got it in me to do anything bad to anyone, so I guess I have only one option left --- Do something good. No special reason; it just happens to be the way things worked out for me.
