I Was wondering because I read that you can't play any Playstation 2 games on the 40GB Playstation 3. I heard that they just took that out of the 40GB version..... Is it true?

yes this is true, the 40gb ps3 doesnt play ps2 games. the 60gb ps3 will play all ps2 and ps1 games with an update and the 80gb ps3 plays MOST of the ps2 games. however.. the 40gb ps3 DOES play ps1 games.

(nope, purely 60+ can. jordan is an fool, I definitely have a ps3, 60 gigs, 80 gigs, and a hundred and sixty gigs all have backwards compatibility.) taylor is a bigger fool.. purely the 60, 20 and unique 80gb ps3 (with 4 usb ports) can play ps2 video games..if your ps3 has 2 usb ports then you definitely cant..if your ps3 has 4 usb ports then you definitely can basic as that

NO. Backwards compability with PS2 games has been removed as an attempt to lower the price of the unit, which Xbox 360 crowd and the public in general has been complaining about in regards to the PS3's price.

the 40 gig unit is not backwards compatible. some 60 gig models will play ps2 games without an update but not all of them (the 60 gig unit has now been discontinued). and the 80 gig unit is backwards compatible.
