All dog hair/fur is the same. In fact all mammal hair/fur is the same. Hair/fur varies in length, coarseness, straightness, etc, but it is all the same.

Although all dogs shed at least some, some dogs do shed less than others. Poodles are a better bet for people with allergies because they tend to be a low shed breed.

Of course not - what nonsense!!
Bad breeders in it for the money would have you believe this silliness so they can charge you for mutts, mixed breeds, touted to be "hypoallergenic" and clueless, gullible people actually fall for it.

All dogs have fur, only difference is some are double coated and some are single coated.
Double coated obviously sheds more - BUT, the allergen is the DANDER, not the fur, and dander is from the skin.
Since all dogs have skin, there is obviously no such thing as a non-allergenic dog.

You can point this out to people all day long and still some insist the fancy misbred mutts advertised to people with allergies are different - I suspect they also see Elvis regularly.

That said, there may be some dogs someone is allergic to and not others - why that is no one can seem to say - but it is within the same breed, not some crazy mixed mutt. My granddaughter is allergic to 2 of my dachshund, but not to 3 others - it is a matter of skin oil it seems in her case, the chocolate dachsie and the blonde dachsie have very oily skin and a different odor from the red and b/t shorthairs.

If you have allergies and want a dog, you owe it to the dog to live with it for at least 24 hours to make sure it doesn't trigger your allergies. That way you don't adopt or buy a dog, develop a reaction, and then have to get rid of the poor thing.

fur/hair is the same thing. It comes in different colors, textures, thickness and lengths. Some breeds do shed less than others. All dogs with hair DO shed. Breeds such as poodles need to be kept brushed, because the hairs do not fall out of the coat on their own. If the dog is not brushed, the coat will mat.
