The self has many components. I've heard that the self is centered behind the eyes. We all live in our heads.

Finding meaning and purpose is the challenge of human life. For this, we must use our minds. If there is a God, he endowed us with our minds. Wouldn't it be disrespectful not to use it?

The supernatural – including God, heaven, hell, Satan and tooth fairies – is an invention of the human imagination. The following is for those who believe in the supernatural or indulge other fantasies in preference to reality.

Faith and logic are antithetical. If religious adherents would admit that they believe for PERSONAL, rather than logical, reasons, THEN they would be honest about their "faith". But it’s dishonest to claim one's faith is logical – faith is a personal position, not a logical conclusion.

Faith and doubt always go hand in hand. Faith without doubt is BLIND faith. It takes a closed mind to sublimate doubt to the point of blind faith. Normal people leaven their faith with a little common sense. Doubt always nibbles at the edges of their faith. After all, without doubt, faith would have no context, no purpose, no meaning, no point. Would it?

Because there is no evidence for anything supernatural (including God), NOBODY can claim ANY knowledge of it. Anybody who does is lying or delusional. It takes suspension of disbelief to believe in the supernatural: one must convince oneself that the impossible is possible. This is the opposite of curiosity. You have one life, one quest: yet you choose to surrender it to something you can’t possibly know anything about.

When people talk about faith, they're usually talking about the supernatural: God, angels, miracles, etc. There is, of course, lots of doubt involved because the supernatural is entirely outside the human (natural) realm. It's not so much that God or angels can't exist . . . the real point is that NOBODY has access to the supernatural and thus NOBODY knows ANYTHING about it. Anybody who claims to have faith in something he knows absolutely nothing about is actually confessing to placing his imagination before, and above, his intellect.

Imagination has its place . . . but not where life decisions are involved. Placing imagination above intellect is surrendering your quest for meaning. You are surrendering the meaning of your life to your religion; to your version of God.

And that's fine. Just be honest about it. You made a leap of faith. Your faith is a personal position – not a valid logical conclusion.

There is no logical relationship between having faith in yourself and having faith in God.
Likewise, if you don't have faith in yourself, it doesn't imply that you do or don't have faith in God. The two ideas are disparate and unconnected.
I guess it also depends on what you mean by having faith in yourself. Does this mean that you beleive you can overcome a problem, or that you believe that you exist? Either way, why would this implicate itself with a relationship to the divine?

I believe God created you with hopes that you will always remain humble and cling on to belief that you are not alone. So therefore, to only rely on oneself as the only thing/person important is not only selfish, but ignorant.

The human being has many capabilities which guide us in a certain path of survival and accomplishment. People who believe that all they've done is because they did it alone, are ignorant. Parents teach you morals, rules, etc.. friends help you find, friendship, company, even love. A partner can do all of those, even more. So to say that a person is the only source of their success is ridiculous. You will always have those around you and people who give you a chance to hire you.. you have school who taught you what to do and how to do it... God is there watching over every move you make.. may it be a fall, a trip, or an obstacle overcome.. he's there admiring his creation in you.

Human being can`t do anything much without an alliance with the Creator God (Supernatural Divine) or some spirits from the dark sides. Capabilities, resources and power are limited,

You actually have that much faith in yourself? I do the very best I can, but I make mistakes. I hurt peoples feelings (most of the time by accident). I can't imagine havie that much faith in myself. I am a good person with flaws. God is perfect, and the best example.

Relying on ourselves is fallible- having faith in God is infallible- why? Because I do not think there is anyone in this world, that can say that they are right 100% of the time, can they? If someone says they are they are living in denial.
