I am not an Arab or a Jew myself. I just can't understand how or why, a simple peace-loving citizen of Israel, still lives on this land.
I mean, being Jewish means to me, a man (person) of the World.
Jew immigrants did wonders all around the world, absorbing the finest elements of their new country and establishing live and thriving communities there.
Tell me please, how a sane family Israeli person can live and evolve in such a terrible war-zone country for so many decades now?
Is money, the answer?

There will only be real peace in Israel when they give back all of what they have stolen from the Palestinians and give them a fair share of their own land.

Until that day they will be regarded as Pariahs in the International community and will never feel the sense of Security and well being every Peacefull nation wants.

There are 1000s of young Israelis living and working in UK
( they can't make money in Israel ) and I have not met one who has any hope for Israel under the current system.

I've been twice in Israel and provided funds to set up a Restaurant in Haifa....It's Shocking...All those Checkpoints and Kids with Uzis....It's a Real Military State....State of Fear that they Created...I've seen the Hilltop Jewish Fortress settlements and Jew only Roads....

And had my car stoned by Palestinian Kids....But They are oppressed and occupied..It's to be expected...So the Jews send in a few Helicopter Gunships...to deal with them..

It's a disgusting, sick, violent place...Eilat is OK tho..

The Israelis that I know... do NOT want to go back....Paperback knows that but has she ever been to Israel?

Please correct me with proof if I'm wrong but as far as I know...Israel is totally dependent on US aid.

I'm both american and Israeli. I got citizenship in both countries and I currently live in the United States. And to tell you the truth, I am not planning on going back anytime soon. The president is a fu*king moron. He's a leftist, even though he claims he's not. For god's sake, he plans on giving back the golan heights to syria just to have peace. I mean, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Is he seriously thinking there will ever be peace with syria? Families evolve in that area, because that's how it is. This only shows you how strong the determination of Israel is. It has survived for over 50 years, starting from literally nothing. It takes a strong country with smart and strong people to do this. And why should we(generally jews) leave Israel and let the arabs get the land? Its not their. And money has nothing to do with anything..... many people immigrate both ways, meaning from Israel and to Israel all the time. I am a proud jew, and I respect all Israeli people. And to tell you the truth, I HATE MUSLIMS! I don't care what people say, but A GOOD MUSLIM IS A DEAD MUSLIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ultra N, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!! If anyone wants a piece of Israel, just BRING IT!!!!! Israel has survived many wars with a limited amount of weapons, so now, these days, ISRAEL can rape any neighboring arab country, Including Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia ALL AT THE SAME TIME

Israel is a great country and is a haven for us Jews. It is also the case that certain mitzvot can only be completed in the land of Israel.
The other aspect is that if we are not safe in Russia, France, England, Iraq, Turkey, Poland, Germany, the US etc. but are still expected to be loyal patriots of those countries, why not live amongst our own people and be a patriot for Israel. I would rather die for Israel than go to war for another country where I am treated poorly (as is the historical case not my specific case).
Jews were never totally accepted anywhere until we were accepted in Israel by other Jews. German and Russian Jews thought they were assimiliated and a part of those countries but found out they were wrong. The blood of my ancestors has seeped into the ground of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen and that stands as mute testimony to the fact that even though we may think we are assimiliated and a part of another country, we were not seen that way.
In Israel we are free to be Jews and free to live with other Jews and make Jewish decisions and fight for Jewish rights. It is really very simple.

Money is not the answer, ideology and hope are. Those are the building blocks of a new country. Israel is clearly not the easy way out, and thus to many people it's incomprehensible that Israelis keep on living there. They don't understand that there's more to life then just easy living; in fact, those people very often lead empty meaningless lives themselves. Israelis live in the belief that they are building a country for future generations - Israel is a dream as much as a reality.
Besides for that, Israel is not as bad one might think from the outside. You really have to come here and see it to appreciate it.

i'm not a Palestinian with Israeli citizenship or "Israeli Arab" as you call them, yet those i've got generic weren't genuine delighted with their concern. EDIT TO KISMET: it extremely is thoroughly untrue to assert that Israel is the only usa the place Muslim ladies can vote. the only usa interior the international that i got here upon that for the period of particular does not enable ladies to vote is Saudi Arabia. All different Muslim countries the two have usual suffrage or don't have a vote in any respect, as contained in relation to the UAE.

Have you ever actually visited Israel? If not, then with the greatest respect possible: you can't offer an informed opinion :)

I am British but I lived in Israel for a year and all I can tell you is: in Israel, I am a person, and am judged by my behaviour. In Britain, much as I like it, I am always a 'Jewish person'.

It's not quite the same :)

Israel is a beautiful, vibrant, intense country, steeped in history, and with some places and some views that are achingly beautiful.

The Israeli people are also unique: tough, because they have to be, but at the same time the most genuine, generous, hospitable people you will ever meet.

Is Israel perfect?
No.

Is Israel the calmest, most relaxing country in the world?
Again, no.

Can one be happy in Israel?
ABSOLUTELY!

The "terrible war zone" is a bit exaggerated and very misleading, at least for the most part. What you see in the media is definitely not the situation in most of the country and as someone said before me - some places are much safer than the USA.
It's indeed not ideal, but why do people live there? First - it's not easy to leave your home country (I did, and it's definitely not for everyone). Or else - why don't you ask the same question about other, much more problematic places than Israel?
Second - Jews tried to live in Europe and look what happened...

Money? No. Moving to Israel means giving up money.. it is so much easier to make a career/ money in the States or ANY other country..

The answer is ideology.

Israel is the BEST country in the ME in terms of human rights.

Ponder that..

The answer is simple, Israel is a great land. All the news and bad things you hear against Israel are false. Israel is a prosperous nation with great sites for scuba diving, skiing, nature trails, clubs, diverse foods from cultural groups living in Israel from all over the world. The quality of life is good and everyone is loving in Israel.

According to Warren Buffet Israel is as safe as the United States. Jews live in Israel because it is there land and they are no longer immigrants there and it is home is where the heart is.

Good Luck!!!
