No clues on type of dog, and all the physical conditions she may have, and why are you doing this in the first place? So many dogs in shelters that need homes with love.... If your "mom" dog is old she may not be in the good healthy condition she should be to reproduce, thus the baby is born with all kinds of problems that cause it to die. This is bordering on cruelty to put her thru this and the baby too. You are really creating so many problems for the mom in her old age that you are hastening her death. Don't be so selfish and foolish about this. Don't put her thru this again!!!!!!!!!

I do not know why your dog only gives birth to one pup and why it dies but take the animal to a vet for a check up.But I do know who-ever told you that a dogs life expectancy was 4 or 5 years didn't know what they were talking about.Different breeds have different life expectancies with the average being 10 or 11 or 12 years. But this is only a general guideline, one of my dogs is now 19 years old,and I have another 13 and a half.

Don't breed. It's obviously very hard on your dog - did you know that every time a dog goes through a pregnancy that decreases there life span? It is the same for every organism (humans included); pregnancy and lactation is vey hard on the female body.

If you want another dog, go to a local shelter. www.petfinder.com

Also spayed dogs live longer, so go get your dog spayed.

There are already 2 pet dogs for every 1 human in the U.S. and only 1 in 8 puppies will ever see their first birthday in a loving family - only 1 in 20 kittens. The others will roam the streets struggling to find enough food to keep them alive or end up in shelters to be put down or die in humane society shelters after spending their lives in a small kennerl getting only one walk a day, never sleeping in a warm, soft bed or getting nice toys.

A dog that gives birth to one puppy and the puppy consistantly dies should NEVER, EVER be bred!! A dog older then the age of 5-6 should NEVER be bred!!
Not to be harsh but what you are doing is very, very irresponsible and definately NOT in the best interest of your dog.You are harming your dog.
If you want another puppy either go adopt one from a shelter or rescue or go buy one from a RESPONSIBLE breeder.

ok first, the life span of a dog isnt 5-6 years , and if ur dog is about to die and is around that age, that mean shes almost dead because over- breeding.you get a dog for a best friend, not for puppies, and to kill her. ur a very ,very cruel person. there is seriosly something wrong with you. do you know the maky dogs that die everyday in shelters?? do you?????? and do you know of the dogs inchina who gat killed with bats on the streets if they have no identification tag? and do you know that a bunch of innesent dogs are dying everyday to either get eaten, not getting taken care of properly, BREEDING TOO MUCH!!, and simply cause thier owners dont want them. did you ever hear of a dog named luis? i guess not, well his owner's son chained him to a tree and set him on fire, and just because his parents didnt let him borrow thier car.thank god hes in jail now. see what im talking about? so stop breeding ur dog if you really love her, it might already be too late for her. and if people are animals lovers, luis is doing fine and his hair is growing back, some schools are donating toys, food, and dog care thing to him, and he is doing soo well. now mrs. thinks dogs are breeding toys............ you got issues!

Depending on the breed, dogs can and do live way longer than 5 or 6 years!

Given the history of dead pups this dog should NOT be allowed to breed, ever! Have you even taken her to a vet? She needs to be spayed immediatly!

dogs life span is usually 12 to 18 years so i dunno who told you that. And you shouldn't want a puppy just to replace your old dog. But i think you should see the vet and see what he/she has to say also make a quite warm area in the house for your dog to have its puppies make sure it has lots of blankets and don't stress her. And when she does have her puppy don't be right in her face because dogs can get stressed by that and abandon the puppies. hope i helped x

get her spayed. Its obvious she cannot carry puppies to have a live birth. when you are ready for another pet, there are plenty at your shelter that need homes.
