I liked the character of Ravan. They say Lord Rama also touched his feet. So he must have been something. They say (they say) he gave the
knowledge of politics to Lord Rama, and Rama was very sad to have killed him in this manner. But Ravan did not have any evil designs of molesting Sita or anything, he just picked her up to have a trump card against Rama. He kept Sitaji with utmost respect in his kingdom. So I WONDER why they burn Ravanas effigy. If this is true, then they should replace his effigy by burning the effigies of so many hundreds of past and present corrupt ministers of India.

My favorite character in the epic Ramayan is SUMITRA.wife of king Dashrath. She has not been given any prominent position in the epic but her entire role has been to reconcile the conflicts, and support every body to come out of sadness and agony. She sent her son Laxman with Shri Ram into the forest without a moments hesitation and instructed him to serve his brother in best possible way. No mother will do this. She consoled Kaushalya and Kekayee in their grief. The very name Sumitra means 'good friend' and she lived to it fully for every body.
Another character that I appreciate is that of Mandodari, the wife of Raawana. She has a very stable and intelligent mind and whenever her husband committed an error , she gave him intelligent advices. She tried her best to bring Raawana to the right path and avoid any conflict with Ram. Incidently, permit me to add that she belonged to Maya tribe of South America, who were so advanced that she used to travel by air, while going to her father's house and returning. This is mentioned in Vaalmiki Ramayan.
I worship Shri Hanumaan and Shri Ram.

Hanuman too for me. he is boss. his loyalty and courage inspires me. but i will also say Bharat. when he learned that he was crowned unjustly he went to see Ram to try and right it, and then he brought his sandles back as a symbol that he is not the real king. that inspires me alot.
