I do body pump twice a week and yoga twice a week. I am 45 years old and have been doing this for years. However in the past year i have been bothered with severre neck and shoulder pain and also now sore knees.
I love the exercise i do but am worried i am harming myself. what do you think? i keep my weights down now and have seen osteopath/physio for neck but nothing provides long term relief. i feel the body pump does affect my neck. However i dont want to get fat or flabby. Any ideas?

don't stop exercising, try swimming instead. i know you've been doing body pump for years but if your technique is slightly off, you'll suffer.

Yoga exercises have certain rhythm which has to be followed meticulously. These should not be slower in pace nor faster. I suggest you to meet your yoga guru again and correct the pace if it is different than what it should be.People in their eighties are also doing yoga exercises with no adverse results.

Do you have a good sports bra. It sounds like the pain in your neck and shoulders may be due to inadequately supported boobs.

Without sounding rude it's just our bodies way of telling us,
That we're getting older don't stop just cut it down a little bit.

Thanks :)
Keep doing your thing I wish you all the best.

Talk to your teacher. They maybe able to suggest a diff exercise or technique or possibly you're doing something wrong.
