I don't favor any particular name, I know, from experience that children do not like odd names such as "Peek A Boo", "Apple", Pilot, Tootsie and the like.
Any name that pleases the family is fine, just keep in mind that the child has to interact with other children and eventually in business. Growing up is difficult enough.
Good luck!

boy or girl?
ethnicity? Yes...it can be important...my daughter is 1/2 vietnamese and MUST have a vietnamese name...
I don't have a favorite, but I suggest...
Something that is not easy to mispell (Megan vs Meagan, Molly vs. Mollie, etc)
Something easy to pronounce
Something that can be shortened into a nickname
Something other kids can't easily turn into an insult (eg, vietnamese names like Bich, Phuc and Dung, English name Dick, etc)
Ultimately, whatever name you pick...if you love your child, you will learn to love the name.
So pick something colorful...the name of a great artist or a beautiful color or a name that relates to something important in your life.

McKenzie is one of my favorite girls names as well as Jocelyn. Jocelyn seems like a tough girl's name and for boys I like Tristan because it reminds me of Chocolate and it's a cute name. Those are names I am thinking of naming my second child which I am pregnant with now. Good luck!
