I feel your pain. Been there, still go there sometime. I have to ask myself...is this all there is? But that little small still voice says: yes, you are here to fulfill your purpose. And how do we know we didn't ask to be here; not knowing what comes after or what came before this life we now live? The hole in ur heart can only be filled with the ultimate mystery...

Life is more than all of eating, sleeping and working etc. Life is about experiences every day, every moment for what it is. Its about embracing those moments, even the terrible ones and learning from them. Life is almost like a jigsaw puzzle where with each day we get a new piece to day to our life, sometimes it seems it doesn't fit only for us to find out later that, piece fits perfect now. Nothing is ever wasted or lost in ones life. Also we are here for others........yes I said others, giving of yourself is the greatest thing we can do, now how do you do that you might ask. Well, a smile cost nothing and is a great gift we can give to anyone who we see. Its the small things as well as the big things that count. God has blessed us with life , so that we might bless others. Start to see life as i said above as every moment an opportunity to experience something and you might find it easy to become a blessing. Without you the world wouldn't be right, you are meant to be here to learn and to give. So I encourage you now you have a purpose TO BE A BLESSING..... SO ITS NOT POINTLESS.

Everyone has a purpose my friend. You sound like you have a troubled spirit. I can see by your letter that you suffer much. If someone gave you that magical answer that would ease all your suffering then you'd truly have nothing to live for! You need to be in emotional pain to keep you alive. Now, if you want me to tell ya what can take away the pain AND give you reason to go on I will. Try Jesus. The Lord has purpose for us all and will help you with all your troubles. That's your magical answer. Seek and he shall answer. God Bless and best of luck.

Even I didn’t now the reason for my existence…I asked Allah, O Allah! please tell me the reason for which you bestowed me with the gift of this precious life…
Allah said…
And I have created the Jinn and the Men only for this that they may worship Me (Qur'an 51:56)
On knowing that all Jinns and Humans are created by Allah for no other reason except worshiping Him alone. I was not clear as to what exactly worshiping means in Islam? Does it mean that I should always be alone praising The Lord leaving everything else? I was confused….I again asked Allah for the guidance…
He answered…
Say you, 'Undoubtedly, my prayer, and my sacrifices, and my living and my dying are all for Allah Who is the Lord of all the worlds' (Qur'an 6:162)
Now it was clear that every thing I do, should be solely to please Allah & no one else. I am not in this world for personal reasons…If I do any good to my relatives, friends, other Muslim brothers & sisters…it’s also way to please Allah, I have no right to expect anything from anyone else. I turned back to Allah again to know the exact way to be the best human in all aspect of life…
He said…
Surely, you have the best in the following of the Messenger, for him who hopes for Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much (Qur'an 33:21)
And surely, (O beloved Prophet) you possess highest moral excellence (Qur'an 68:4)
But what about all the sins that I committed so far?!?!?
He promised…
Say you, 'O My bondmen who have committed excesses against their own souls 'despair not of the mercy of Allah' Undoubtedly, Allah forgives all sins, Verily He is the Forgiving, the Merciful (Qur'an 39:53)
I knew now...that there are many ways to turn against Allah, it could be even by simply ignoring Him. InshaAllah I will not let this happen any further...I commit my life to Allah & His messanger sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam and make it my goal to live every moment the way Islam prescribes.
Alhamdulillah, ba faize Murshidi the blessed mission of Dawat e Islami "I must strive to rectify myself and all the people of the world inshaAllah AzzawaJal" has changed my life...
InshaAllah...I will give precedence to Islam over all worldly objects...
I acknowledge my sins as sins and I am not proud of them...I am a person in most need of forgiveness.
O Allah...so I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness...
ameen

Not true. You are here because God put you here. Have faith in Jesus Christ an you'll see how little some of the things you mention actually matter.
Do the right thing and you'll spend eternity in Heaven.
Praise Jesus.
what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his own soul??

It's a hidden meaning that has to be found. Maybe you will change someone's life one day. Who knows? Some people accomplish what they were supposed to but don't realize it. So I would say stick it out because you never know the future.

Only if God exists can there possibly be an answer to your question:
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell
Honest atheism always leads to nihilism and honest nihilism always points to suicide.
"There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. Deciding whether or not life is worth living is to answer the fundamental question in philosophy. All other questions follow from that." Camus

We all have a purpose here on earth, though it may seem obscure to us at times. You just need to question God less & get on with doing the best you can for your family.
