A 18yr. old guy got my barely 15yr. old daughter pregnant and she had a baby that I'm raising both of them. I filed a complainant on him for having sex with a minor. He got her pregnant and left for the navy. Left me with the hospital bill and the responseability of raising both kids,my daughter and my grandson. Now he is back for leave and is walking around free. They arrested people on dateline for talking to teenagers about sex on the comp. and they haven't arrestted him yet.Is it because I live in a small town and county of hendry county Florida. And dateline came to Fort Myers and did there sting.Well how about the people that got pregnant, how come they don't go after them. The baby is now 1 1/2yrs. old. I couldn't file untill my daughter would cooperate with the police and untill now she wouldn't. He kept threatening her that he would kill her if she did anything.Well I finally convinced her that he would have to get by me 1st to try anything and she finally cooperated.let me know.

By law he committed statutory rape, whether it was consensual or not. In part it states "whoever has sex with a minor under the age of 16" nothing about his age. He could be 18 or 80, "WHOEVER" is the key word.
Now, will he get convicted, good chance after this long probably not. Can you file for support of the child, yes you can. He can also push for DNA.test. You will have to get in touch with the local police or District Attorney to investigate for criminal and file for child support and back bills .The Navy will not force him to pay unless there was a DNA test and the court has ordered it. They would be aware of a pending matter and won't act on it until it is resolved by the court. Also file for restraining order if threats persist

First things first. You don't press charges, the police file charges. The police don't have to arrest everyone. They have to arrest on domestic violence offenses only. You as a citizen have the right file to file your own charges without the police. Know the statutory rape law age in the state that you live before you try to do that. Most states are under age 16 with around a couple year clause for older person. So 15 and 18 might be legal. Don't file false charges or wrong charges or you will be the one in trouble or sued. Make sure you have a victim as well. No victim no crime, and you are not the victim.

Maybe you should try talking to the guy about his obligations and get him thinking about his responsibilities. If that doesn't work have your daughter file for custody and child support.

It took both of them to make this child, so its a shared responsibility. However, I do believe the Navy will take this situation seriously. The child is your grandson and you need to help her take care of him as her son. She's probably back at school, which is great, and she's lucky to have you. Having said that, she's entitled to your help and no parent I know would deny their own daughter the help she would need at such a young age.

If she consented to relations with this guy, then she's just as responsible for creating a new life. It takes two to tango!
In the UK he could be prosecuted and his life blighted forever for having sex with a minor. But in my opinion, this is pointless unless sex was forced. You and your daughter just need him to accept responsibility for his child and be made to financially support him until he is grown up.

His doubtful behaviour towards your daughter is simply unacceptable, he shouldn't be allowed to threaten her safety or that of their son. Perhaps you need to write an open letter to the Navy stating the situation as you see it, and repeating, very accurately, what he has said by way of threat, to your daughter. Before he does this again, to someone else! If you can, consult a lawyer over this, but if you can't, get in touch with the Navy and ask for a DNA test to prove he's the father. They are fully aware that some of their young men act in this way, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise when you contact them.

Good luck.

I am sorry, but your daughter knew what she was doing and was willing. I do believe she should get the financial support for the baby. But as for pressing charges, let it go. Forgive the guy, because after all it is the babies daddy and someday that may be important to that kid. There are many seniors in high school age 17 or 18, that date freshmen and sophomores age 14-16, and it is common to have sex. One other fact if he is sitting in jail he can't make the money to help pay for the little one. It is after all partly his responsibility.

It's a cognizable offence. The 18 year old has no immunity against this.Seek legal advice from your lawyer and act accordingly. Why is it that you had to spend so much of time before you could easily seek the advice of your lawyer......instead of putting your question on the A/Y.When any complaint is delayed for nothing , it becomes very difficult for any lawyer to pursue the offender.........and establish charges against him.
In any case, your lawyer will give you the best advice and he will do the rest if appointed by you as your Advocate by signing a Form authorising him to act on your behalf in a court of law.

contact the military and have dna test. he will be forced by the navy to pay child support. it will come right out of his pay. 18 and 15 is questionable about what authorities will do. if he was over 21 that would make a big difference.

i think that filing charges on him is wrong if she consented to have sex with him you should have just made her file for child support, now your grandchild has a deadbeat sex offender parent. its not far to your daughter to have to raise the child without help but its not far to him to be labeled a sex offender

besides focusing on the criminal aspect, you should also start child support proceedings against the person to garnish at least a little of his pay
