I have been working for this company for last 3 years and handling all projects on my own. I have 6 people under me. Last month my boss recruited one person above me who has no idea of the work. He has a different background. Now, I have to report to him even if he doesn't understand the details of my work. Sometimes he asks stupid & irratic questions. I started feeling frustrated. Its humilation for me to work under such a person.
Now, I am thinking of quiting. Am I making a right decision?

Please help!!

Thanks a lot for all your answers. I m really grateful.
Here I want to add some more details.
I talked to my colleagues about my problem. My colleagues are in support of me. Even they don't like this decision of management.

I am in the same situation that you are in at this point and time. My boss hired a relative which I know isn't necessarily politics but she put her on salary first thing and just thought she would be top notch at everything. Well, it turns out she can't do anything without having to come to me and ask me how to do it. Not only that but she never can get anything done right or on time. I went to the owner of the business and told her that I was not going to do her job anymore and therefore I haven't and there is a lot not getting done. The owner is starting to see how incompetent this person is and even though I know she will never let her go because she is family, the boss is starting to see just how important I am to the business. I would say that you should go along with your job and what this person does not understand go to the person higher up to see what they think. If that is not possible then keep your eyes open for other positions in different companies. Just try not to let the frustration you are having show. Eventually this person will falter and you will come out on top. If your boss does nothing then for you like promote you or give you more compensation, then it's a sign that your boss is taking advantage of your talent and you need to find somewhere that will appreciate you for your hard work.

Well on one hand you can remember back to the day you were new at it.I'm sure you didn't know as much then either. On the other hand, the boss is the boss. He can do what ever he likes and it's in stone. If you think you are being overthrown, ask people that know you how you are doing? You might hear thing's that you don't like. Then improve what you can.
Or, if you are good at what you do, start your own business.
Be the BOSS.

Dont quit please

Talk everthing what in your heart frankly with your boss

Tell him or her that what you think about him and why he is not eligable to work

you are senior so he must know everthing about the work if he dosent know then you can talk to your boss about it clearly frankly dont hasitate to talk to your boss about it.

fight for the rights and you will get the good results tell this to the superiours

you gave many years to the company so you should earn lot of experiance they will not neglect your apeal.

and dont hate that man who is working for u. its his job tell the superiours that he can work but not above me he had to learn things so as a trainer he can work in your company.

hope everthing will be good before doing anything big try this talk with your supiours like i said.

if it not work then you can look for any other work until then dont leave find and leave.

but you must tell them the reason so they must know where they are wrong
