Hello!

Recently I have been having what I am quite sure is hip pain. It is like a throbbing pain and I get it sometimes on my really lower beack, femur and the area of the hip. The throbbing pain is really sudden and it last for from 5 - 40 seconds. Sometimes it hurts for me to walk (I think around the joint area)

The throbbing sometimes is in my knee as well/ and rarely in my other hip.

What could this be?
I am a female teenager btw.
Thanks

Just because you're a teenager doesn't mean you can't have health problems. I began with symptoms similar to yours when I was 15. No one thought it could be anything significant because as they said, "You're a big, healthy farm girl." Yeah, well.......I am 66 now and have had a lifetime of joint and bone pains. I have rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disc problems. I've had a knee and hip replacement and surgery on my lumbar and cervical spine. I can no longer walk without a walker and I use a power chair most of the time. I will be having more surgeries on my spine in January. I have spondylosis and scoliosis as well as stenosis of the spine. I tell you this because you need to have a complete health check-up to eliminate anything like this being your problem. I don't much believe in growing pains. My daughter is 31 and has the beginnings of the same problems. Both of my sons also have this, as did my grandmother and great-grandmothers. I've raised a family, had two professional careers and a full life BUT I have also had to deal with chronic pain for years and years. I've always wondered if I'd been diagnosed much sooner and had good health care for these problems if I would be more mobile and in less pain now. Good luck and God bless.

You should check this sciatica natural treatment http://cure-sciatica.info
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica. Try a reputable chiropractor ASAP!

it could be 'slipped epiphusis' (don't think i spelled it right). I had the same thing and it was hereditary from my father. I had to undergo surgery the day before Easter. I couldn't walk cause the surger of course was hurting me. Talk to your parents before it gets worse. Get to a doctor.

*If you dont get to a doctor:

*Your legs could lock up on you

Slipped epiphusis is when the joints of the hips start to slip out and lock.

*Doctors can fix this by inserting a large long nail in the hip to keep if from slipping and sliding. it also helps the hip bone not 'grind against' the pelvic bone joint area. There will only be a SMALL scar on the hip.

your not too young for hip pain at all everyone can get it you might have strained something can you think of any physcial activity you have done that could have caused this? and have u had sex at all?ask yourself these questions and go get it checked by a doctor if your concerned. My best mate had it from the age of 12 she is now 17 and was diagnosed with a serious illness so its best to get yourself checked out its probably nothing though

With women & hip pain it usually means you have an infection in your reproductive area. This is called PID. Pelvic Inflamatory Disease. You need to go and have a pap smear done at your GYN.

Get a doctor's opinion. I have back exercises to do to prevent my nerves being pinched.

Are you athletic? If so, you could have injured yourself. If not, simply turning the wrong way can cause injury.

I'd see a doctor and get some xrays to rule out arthritis or degenerative joint disease.
