I have a better version Allan..."God made the world...He made Philippines the best...and yes, the rest was made in China."

Not really, it just seems like it sometimes, i.e. when you listen to religious pontification and when you go to buy something.

It's a wonderful world (being a Darwinist) and I'm proud of my country in it (and we still have things 'made in Britain') - the UK, but not so proud of what they did to China (The effects of the Opium Wars).

Today the people of China are working very hard, unimagineably to the minds of many people in the West, Who would be in the classrooms at 6.30 in the morning? and still in the classrooms at 9.30 at night? as most middle school (secondary school) pupils are in China (and othe Asian countries). The little family (personal) business that many have is their life - many of them conducted (all day long) in the street, eg. barbers, shoe repairs, bike repairs, key-cutting, selling all kinds of things from fruit and veg to clothing and footwear, laid on a cloth on the pavement if they can't afford a stall. The way things are going, I would suggest even more things will be made in China until the standard of living inc. wages etc catches up with the West. They have done in the last 25 years or so, what we did in 200 years.

I'm sorry bkk but I have to ask why did you stay in China for 2 years - thats a long time for someone who is unhappy there. It seems you went with a mind that wasn't open - filled with the mind-set of another culture and its expectations.

Edit...
Laotzu4272 - I think you are talking about the street vendors in Beijing. I am talking about in lesser cities where they have street markets, and the people are standing there all day and everyday whatever the weather maybe. Many are just peasants that have brought their own produce in grown from there own efforts. We all have to make a living and for some it is harder than for others. I would sooner give my business to the poorer people than those who are getting rich quicker in the massive metropolitans of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou etc, but I don't begrudge anyone prospering. All the Chinese I know are working hard for, and deserving of a better life.

Who is this "God" person? To SimplyTh those little vendors with their cloths on the sidewalk are there illegally and will be fined if they are caught or don't pay the bribes to stay there. Many of the stalls are not licensed and will be closed down before the Olympics to protect the westerners.

I agreed but most of the items made in China are of inferior quality including some it's citizen (sorry about that but it's true).

haha, really funny. but without God, there is no China. All praise is due to God only.

edit: i would gladly denounce the existence of God if China could produce an egg, which is said have already been done, but would make that egg from their own chemicals, not from the chickens itself, incubate it and after 28 days a chick would come forth or make a flower and turn that into a wheat.

Quantity is made in China, but Quality is made elsewhere. For now, at least.
