hi you are definitely fat but I understand you wanting to be healthy to avoid problems later. You should not become a vegetarian because you are still growing and you need to have a well rounded diet that provides all the nutrients that you need. If you want to lose just a few pounds make sure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and avoid sugary juices and sodas, even the diet ones because they are gassy and still make you bloat. Make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink 2-4 glasses of milk (1% is ideal) a day. Don't ever skip meals, especially breakfast. I find it best to have 4 to 5 small meals a day. For example, at breakfast you can try 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal mixed with fresh berries and milk. At lunch you can have a glass of milk with an open faced turkey and cucumber sandwich with a piece of fruit. Always watch your portions. A serving of meat is no larger than a deck of cards and a serving of rice or pasta is one hand cupped. Try to get some physical activity (at least 30 minutes) every day doing activities that you like - walking, Pilates, volleyball - whatever. You might even want to check out some exercise videos to vary things a bit. I am a stay at home mom and I use a variety of different videos and in combination with a sensible diet I have lost 25 pounds in 3 months. I don't breastfeed so that is not the reason for my weight loss. So I know this stuff works. But first make sure to see your doctor so that he or she can first check you and help you figure out how much food and activity is right for you. Good luck!

Being active is the first step.
Replacing sendentary activites like riding in a car or on the bus with walking or bicycle riding if long distance is a good second step.
Only eating healthy foods is a good second step. Cut out dep frid stuff totally and only eat stuff fired in good vegetable oils, but do not eat losts of fried stuff. Fat is the most concentrate food source and if you are not burning it off wth activity, it goes straight to body fat.
The problem is that you are not going to loose weight if you are doing a lot of exercise as you will put on muscle mass.
Sprints are not necessary the best exercise, unless you're a sprinter in training. Walking at a consistent pace is better. Jogging can cause knee damage, so take it easy there and only jog off roads and concrete paths.

When I was in my 30s I lost weight on the diebetic exchange system. Every time I lost 3 pounds i would buy something I would build up a great desire for...even if it was one candy bar of a particular kind.
Look at actors like Edward Norton, etc. They can act like a muscular guy or a nice preist or whatever role they are playing. And people believe them for what they are acting as. Act like you are mentally healthy and have great charisma and wise compassion for evryone. You'll look different.

j Replace some of your fav drinks with water. Replace snacks like chips with veggies or when you have sweet tooth have some fruit. Walk, jog or even dance! Start with a 10 minute warm up, like aerobics or something...then go for a 20-30 minute walk and take water with you to have as you go. Increase your walking the next week to 40-60 and so on. Good luck sweetie.
