I have a teacher that I took a class 3 years ago and he used to make jokes about how he was unlucky in love. He was single at the time. His jokes were really funny though. He became engaged 9 months ago. However, last week he hosted an event at school and he was STILL making jokes about him being unlucky in love. What does it mean?
Thank you so much just for answering.
Fine Print: I will not accept insults or stupid remarks like "why do you care". I am sure you will understand. I am just asking a question.

He's using humor as a way to mask what he really looking for which is not the sort of funny business that is appropriate to display in front of a classroom. It's like he's fishing around hoping someone will snatch the bait and take him up on what he is desperately trying for. If he's still making the same tired jokes after three years, then none of this is funny any longer and is rather insulting to his fiance. It may have been funny once, but it's now making him look like a foolish insensitive cad and a rather pathetic one at that.

He's just saying it playfully and not being serious... he isn't truly unlucky in love if he has a girlfriend he loves enough to want to marry. : )
Two possibilities:
-Maybe it's something he knows will be received well by strangers or people he doesn't know too well. It's something people can relate to (being unlucky in love), so it's sure to get laughs because anyone can think back to a time they've been unlucky in love.
-Maybe fabrication is his idea of comedy and being humorous. When Britney Spears was ordering salad and coffee from Starbucks and it came out to be $14, she said, "That's a lot of money, I don't know if I have it!" jokingly. She clearly had the money; that was just her style of humor.

look , i went through the comments , (inappropriate Joke for a class) sorry but thats BulI Sh'T cuz i think teachers who try to make the class more friendly by jokes and talking about themselves are the greatest teachers , cuz u will always love them therefore u ll always get very good marks in their subjects , cuz ull prefer studying for them , rather than studying for anotherr boring teacher , and i had a teacher like that and he was the greatest teacher i ever had ,and i never got a bad mark in his subject and now i can speak french very fluently thanks to him (he was a French teacher) .
he is just trying to make all the people in the event have a laugh and i am sure that his fiance was there and she also laughed

I really wouldn't read into it too deeply. Let it be where it is. Besides, he is not related to you and he is just a professor saying "comments" that really have not much meaning that involve you. It does sound a little puzzling, but I honestly don't think it's much to "ponder over". Do make sure to "ignore" the comments.
Take care. =)

The professor may be trying to make the lesson more attractive-if is in connection with the lesson-and does not insult others or harmful for others -then it may be his technique of imparting lesson. He may be humourous by nature--he takes every thing easy or he wants to forget his past experience of love.

He sounds very immature to me, even if his jokes were funny. It's really inappropriate for the professor to do that.

Accepting your situation in a humorous way is way better than sulking and being depressed.
Your professor sounds pretty cool

Maybe he tells the jokes, because out of self confidence

Maybe what he really means is that he's not getting as much sex as he'd like; but it's really not appropriate to talk about your personal life in certain settings.
