Man cannot curse another man.Curse is the punishment for sin and to curse is God's prerogative. In the Bible no man is found to curse, even Balaam was prevented by God to curse Israel-Numbers 23:11,12

Basically, don't do it. "Curse" can mean several things so a lot depends on the situation. To get a better look, or to do some further study, try this website: http://www.blueletterbible.org When you get there, type in the word curs* and it will give you a complete list where you can find all the verses. Very interesting.
Jesus told us to not render evil for evil but to pray for our enemies, and so forth. He doesn't want us to use that kind of talk or those kind of actions against anyone.

> Exodus 21:17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother,
> shall surely be put to death.
A perfect example of how impractical and irrelevant the bible is. Christains couldn't possibly believe this. I certainly don't see any christians killing there kids for cursing. Christians only quote/use/believe/live by the parts of the bible that fit their already established ideas of morality. Anytime the bible is used as a guide for morality (over common sense), the result is... well, not good. (e.g. attitudes toward homosexuality, justification for slavery, treatment of women as inferior...)

James 3:9-11 "9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?"
Yes I am working on it. Thanks for the reminder.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth but only that is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, day with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”Ephesians 4:25-32 is the first one that comes to mind
but thing of it this way.....the spoken word has much power........I mean the universe was created by a spoken word "and God said let there be light" and there was.......the name of God is held very highly and especially by the Jewish people who take care not to utter it. and also think of it as a thought becoming action. you think something and then speak it and it leads to some sort of action. Have you ever been in a room where everyone was happy and then someone comes in swearing and uttering profanity.....the energy of the room changes.......esoterically you could say that that person has taken their negativity and caused it to flow from them to influence those they are around.
"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies;" Matthew 15:18-19
"Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." James 3:10-16

"Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath and screaming and abusive speech be taken away from YOU along with all badness. 32 But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave YOU."-- Eph. 4:31, 32
"Let fornication and uncleanness of every sort or greediness not even be mentioned among YOU, just as it befits holy people; 4 neither shameful conduct nor foolish talking nor obscene jesting, things which are not becoming, but rather the giving of thanks. "-- Eph. 5:3, 4

Why does it matter? What do you say about cursing? Don't like it? Don't do it. Doesn't really matter. They are just words.

26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Did you mean, "cursing"? Because I don't think it says anything about "curseing".
