I think that you should get the 80GB PS3. I think that the backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games with the 80GB PS3 is a very nice feature to have. The 40GB PS3 can't play PS2 games and that's really the only major downside to the 40GB PS3.

The only other thing that the 40GB PS3 doesn't have is the flash card slots and it only has 2 USB ports. So basically it all depends on whether or not you are care about having backwards compatibility, and I think that the backwards compatibility is worth it.

It really depends, if you have many PS2 games w/ a working PS2, go for the 40GB. If you have many PS2 games w/o a working PS2, you might want to think about the 80GB, because of the backward compatibility. The 40GB does not support PS2 games, but it supports PSone games. The 80GB supports PS2, and PSone games, but it uses a software based backward compatibility which isn't as good as the 60GB w/ the emotion chip. If you have a 40GB hard drive, I suggest you to upgrade the hard drive a little bigger, so you can store my things like saved games, music, videos, and photos! Hope this helps!

get 80gb since theres backward campatibility to let a few PS1 and PS2 games on it. 80gb is obviously double the power of the 40gb with just $100 more so yea get 80gb

based the decision on your need to be honest. For example if your going to use your ps3 for your ps1 and 2 games or store alot of stuff on your ps3 such as pictures, movies, and music then I would highly suggest a 80 gig but if your going to use it for the minimum for ps3 games only and a couple of thing saved to your console get the 40 gig. I currently have a 60 gig ps3 and have quite a bit of pictures, music, demos, and quite a bit games saved and currently standing at 45 gig......
