ok, so me and my friend tend to have friendly debates about politics on IM. for the first time in a few weeks, we got INFURIATED with each other aobut global warming. he thinks its an unimortant issue thats just a scam, and of course i strongly disagree. somehow, the conversation got to how oil effects animals after a spill. he was saying "birds are jsut birds" and now that i think about it, i didnt have any good info to back myself about why global warming was important or why birds matter to the environment. Any insight on this?

Well global warming is real it can be see through the fact that over the years temperatures have been at a all time high in 1998 and 2005 we had the overall highest temperatures in the last 1000 years and with all of the carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere through fossil fuels being burned and the carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere through cars temperatures will keep going up. When birds are hurt through oil spills it effects the entire Eco-system.

if birds are not important to the world, then are ppl imp. to the world? (if ur stuck with a tricky q' then answer it witha q' like what i just did before) Global warming in an important issue because if we don't change are view now, then we screw the nxt generations. Also global warming will set off a domino effect of chaos. Polar ice caps will melt, ocean levels rise, animals in cold areas must keep migrating to cooler areas. Human food supply weaken as severe drought in crops, and severe weather occurences, the ocean will be in chaos as cold-water fish die, and not many other eatable food left. When crops fail, animals unable to be fed, the whole world turns on each other. The oil situation is that fossil fuels contribute the toxic gases and create the global warming, also factories have a biproduct of waste the goes into air, and water. And this is why the issue of global warming is important, evidence is shown, it has been agreed upon.

Every animal is part of the food chain. If all birds were wiped out the animals that would eat the birds would die out causing the domino effect. Once one of them falls they all fall from the smallest thing to a bug to a lion. Everything is important in our eco-system, especially nowadays due to all the pollution. Everybody doesn't realize that, but a lot of people still try and kill things for survival during hunting season. I think that we should get rid of hunting season and just leave the environment alone. The animals on the planet are disappearing one by one.

The importance of global warming in detail is that the bigger the boogie man the more money can filched from the pockets of the population. If it is a fact that global warming is real there is nothing reasonable that anyone can do to change it now.

UN scientists urge carbon tax to fight global warming
Source: Guardian Unlimited

All sources of carbon pollution - from flights to inefficient light bulbs - must become more expensive if the world is to tackle global warming, an influential panel of scientists and government officials will say today.

Putting a price on harmful emissions from goods and services would require a fundamental shift in the world's economy, but "could realise significant mitigation potential in all sectors" according to a report from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

yes it is important, I major in Earth Science. let's make the long story short. everything is related together like animals, plants or weather. one kind of Animal or Species extinct later or sooner all the living things will die and extinct. global warming can coz many problems such as animal will die, water level rise up so we have lest land and the weather will change to really cold or really hot. in the other word global warming can coz the end of the world so it is a big deal! Global warming not just heat up the Earth because after that it also will freeze up the earth. no living things can survive. need to know more go ask your science teacher if you have one, or ask me.

Birds are part of the food chain..If certain bird species die off, other species cant eat or are forced to adapt, which can result in extinction. Birds are also great sources to dispersal methods..for example, birds that eat seedlings from trees, can defecate in areas limited in a certain tree species which can be an effect of greater plant distribution..more trees greater CO2 reduction, these are a few to mention

Every animal, except man, is important. Its called an ecosystem. Birds help by eating some of the bugs and rodents. So less bugs and rodents means, less chemicals needed to protect our livestock. Also birds gets eaten by predators. All animals prey on each other, which helps keep their population in check, so that everything is in balance.

Global warming might be a scam for nuclear energy, or something else, cuz there's evidence that the planet is actually into the beginning of an iceage. Perhaps the GW scam is for chemtrails and their greenhouse effect.

Global warming is important to you (and your friend) because, if we don't take action to reduce it, it will cost both of you a lot of money.

Moving people away from the coasts, replacing things we lose to flooding, and fixing damage to agriculture will cost huge sums. The result will quite likely be an economic depression that will make the 1930s look like good times.

In poor countries damage to agriculture will cause food shortages and starvation. Some will die. Desperate people fleeing across national borders, may start wars.
