If that's you smoking, STOP. Cut out fried foods. You have genetically determined high cholesterol, so you will have to watch it for the rest of your life. Eat more fiber, beans, less meat, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Exercise moderately at least--that's critical. LONG-COOK oatmeal, not instant, will also lower cholesterol, just like on the commercial (but at least 10 minute, make a few days at one time).

Your high cholesterol is probably genetic if you are only 19. I would recommend the following things:
-Cut out all trans fats. This means margarine, anything baked with shortening (most bakery items such as muffins, cakes, crackers, etc).
-Exercise
-Drink green tea
-Eat as much fish as you can, especially fatty salmon. You could also take fish oil supplements.
-Eat nuts, especially almonds and walnuts
These steps will lower your bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol. Good luck!

Eat a small handful of raw almonds every day, and definitely watch what you eat, exercise and lose weight if needed. You're really young to have this, but you can reverse it. Mine went down from 238 to 173 in a year by eating healthier (cooking at home) and did not involve a major weight loss.
