Do you believe there is a concrete, universal definition for "evil"?

If someone recognizes a certain way of life as being evil, what would compel them to follow that path?

I believe evil is seperateness from God, which is really just an illusion. I believe fear makes people follow the path of evil. That inside an "evil" person, there is much fear compelling their actions.

I don't believe the concepts of "good" and "evil" are genuinely useful. It is seldom that anyone would do something because it was evil. Even the 9-11 hijackers thought they were doing the right thing.

Instead, I believe in using the concepts of "more helpful" and "more harmful." This way the actual consequences are what determine if something should be done or not done.

Evil is the clothing of demons. Just as God clothed the sinners before casting them out from Eden, God clothed the fallen angels before casting them out from heaven. Because darkness is the perfect clothing for the bodiless, and is perfectly used to cover sin. Under cover of darkness, sin is able to flourish, but in the light of God, sin runs away. And so, the demons use the darkness to hide us from the light. But we hide willingly, so we're still accountable.

Evil always appeals as a good. Evil cannot exist in and of itself, but in something that is good. That is why evil is so difficult to distinguish from good.

I would consider it a feeling of joy when one causes physical or emotional harm. Reveling in another's pain is 'evil' to me.
