Hi. I was just wondering if anybody knew any information on sacred numbers? Like I've heard somewhere that the number three is sacred, but what makes it sacred? Is there any other sacred numbers?

In the bible there are meanings attached to numbers. I have learned them this way:

1 - God
2 - Adequate Witness
3 - Manifestation
4 - The World
5 - Grace
6 - Falling Short of Perfection, the number of man
7 - Eternal, Perfection
8 - New Beginnings
9 - Divine Manifestation
10 - Man's Responsibility

50 - The Harvest Number

Those are all I know.

The number 3 could be sacred to christians, since it is a number used so many times in the bible. There is also the number 7.

4, 7 and 12 were sacred to the Jews.
The writers in the New Testament used those numbers to identify to the Jews and convert them.
6 was a number of imperfection, not a sacred number.

In Christianity, the number 7 is the number of completeness....7 days in a week - how many days God spent creating the Earth [6 days creating and the 7th as rest to show He was completed]. Multiples of 7 are also used (7x7=49 - the year of jubilee on the 50th year to complete the period of time when all land was given back to the original owner, debts were cleared, slaves set free, etc. )...Jesus used an example of how many times to forgive someone per day ( 70x7= perpetual forgiveness). When Joshua marched around the city of Jericho, he marched for a week and on the 7th day, that was when the walls fell.

There are other examples, but you get the point I think. I wouldn't say the number "7" is 'sacred' per se- but it is used symbolically to indicate fulfillment or completeness.

Have a blessed weekend and a Merry Christmas :-)
