Im worried....I used to binge eat a lot ( I never got overweight or anything) but whenever I binged I would eat sugary and fattening comfort foods. I no longer do that as often but I recently noticed that I have some symptoms of Diabetes Type 2 ( dont know if it's a coincidence or if im being paranoid or something?)

anyways, my question is how can I find out if I have it or not? a blood test? how would I go about getting that done ?

thank you!

go get an appointment with your general physician

they will probably get you to come in for a lab test

if that test shows positive signs - then a glucose tolerance test can be run - and they can nail it down

and don;t worry - if you lose weight - and exercise - you may not need your oral meds (I still do - cause I won't lose weight)

all the best!

My doc told me I was overweight - I told him I wanted a 2nd opinion

He said You're Ugly, too!

(no he didn;t)

I can help you. I have been diabetic since I was 4 years old.

The most common symptoms of diabetes are:

Uncontrollable urge to urinate
Uncontrollable urge to drink water at all times
Feeling of extreme "high" after eating a meal that has lots of carbs, like pasta and or sugar.
Itchy palms and feet, etc.

Best way to find out for sure is to consult a doctor. Make an appointment with your regular doctor and explain your fears. They will send you to do a blood test. That will easy your mind.

in meantime, avoid excessive eating and food that contains a lot of sugar. Plus it won't hurt to exercise either. You might not be diabetic yet but unhealthy eating and lack of exercise could lead to type II diabetes.

Good luck.

Daisy.

You could always make a appoitment with your doctor and tell him what you think and he will take your blood and check to see if its abnormaly high. If it is he may schedule a blood test and that will require you not to eat 12 hours before the test and the blood work would tell your doctor how high your sugar has been in the last 60 days. That will tell him if you have diabetes or not.

You have to go to the doctor. The first thing he'll do is check the level of protien in your urine. Then he'll do a blood test, and you will have to drink this very sweet drink. I have type 2 diabetes and you can get a strong smell from your urine. Diabetes is caused by a hormonal disbalance, obesity, or heredity. Hope this helped. Good luck. Jenni

You would have to have a blood test. Go to your doctor for a physical and request labwork--it's usually part of a physical. It will show up on your regular lab results.
