well i think u could get him legos my younger brother the age of 7 loves the legos with the building instructins on the inside! but my dad of 40 loves them too!!!!!!!!!! so as u can see there good for all ages and u can get them for like 5$to about 150$

2-6= Legos would be fine
7-10= Games

Take him to the Movie of HIS choice. That way he'll remember the Gift AND the Giver... :)

You could get him like a football or a helmet or somekind of sport thing. If he doesn't like the outdoors you could always do a movie.
