Grand Trismo 4 for PS2 in HD?

I have an original PS2 (fat ones) and Grand Trismo 4 and a Samsung LN-T3253H (HDTV).
When I go to the options menu and under screen setting in GT4 there is the option for 1080i, and when i select it my TV (which plays 1080i) says "weak or no signal"
Do I need an HD Cable for my PS2 or do I need to change a setting on my TV?

buy a seperate cable there is a hd cable for $11.95

there isnt and HD output for PS2
maybe it was meant for PS3 :/
